Harrington Park Creek - July 31, 2008

Tried a creek by Harrington Park in Plano in the early evening. Caught small Catfish and Sunfish using Bread Bait. Did see a couple of Carp but they were not interested. Switched to a flyrod and caught several Sunfish on a Red and White Zonker. Had several hits from small Bass but did not land any. Pictures posted below.

Celebration Park East Pond - July 30, 2008

Fished Celebration Park's East Pond for Catfish. Caught four Catfish ranging from 9" to 12" in size. Water level has dropped since our last trip to the East Pond. And, did not hook any of the larger Catfish. Still promising. Pictures posted below.

Bethany Lakes - July 29, 2008

Fished Bethany Lakes' Main Pond for more fun with the Catfish. Caught three Catfish ranging from 16" to 23" in size and one Bluegill using Bread and Dough Bait. Pictures posted below (tape measure is 19" long). Did see others catching Bass using Spinner Baits.

PS: Davis Library Pond - July 27, 2008

PS: Fished the pond behind Davis Library in Plano. Used Bread in hopes of hooking Tilipia. No luck. Saw them swimming around but did not look interested in my bait. Have to try another means to get them to bite.

Bethany Lakes - Catfish in the AM.

Fished Bethany Lakes Main Pond this morning around 8:30AM. Used Bread Bait and chummed with the Dough Bait. Caught one 19" Catfish and had several other strikes but no hook-ups. Best guess based on the last few outings is to fish for Catfish in the early evening. Picture posted below.

Bethany Lakes - Early Evening Catfish

Fished Bethany Lakes' Main Pond in the early evening for another go at the Catfish using both Bread and homemade Dough Bait. Both baits worked but had more strikes on the Bread Bait. Caught Catfish ranging from 19" to 26" in size. Largest weighed in at ~ 5 lbs. Pictures posted below (tape measure is 19" long).

Bethany Lakes - Late Evening Catfish Outing

Fished Bethany Lakes Main Pond in the late evening. Used Bread and Dough Bait. Caught two on the Bread Bait; caught one on the Dough Bait. Largest measured slightly over 24". As it was dark, pictures were tough to take on a camera phone. Posted a sampling below.

Bethany Lakes - Catfish Fishing Video Clip

Fished Bethany Lakes this afternoon to capture video of the Catfish fishing in the Main Pond. Action was slower than our last trip. Still had fun today with one Catfish hooked but lost while landing, several bites but no hook-ups, and one 22" Catfish that went 5 lbs. Video posted below.

Bethany Lakes' Catfish - July 20, 2008

Fished Bethany Lakes' Main Pond this afternoon for Catfish using both Bread and homemade Dough Bait. Good outing with success on both baits; however, liked the Dough Bait over Bread because it stayed on the hook better. Caught several Catfish ranging from 15" to 24" in size. Largest weighed in at about 5 lbs. Not bad for a quick trip to a community lake. Pictures posted below (tape measure is 19" long).

Tilapia, Bluegill, Sunfish, and a Bass

Fished the Pond behind Davis Library in Plano this morning. Some short strikes from Bluegill but no hook ups using a Black Nosed Dace, went to the feeder creek by the bridge and noticed small fish in the shallows. Tied on a small Midge pattern and was able to hook two fingerling Tilapia. Pictures posted below.

Went back to Allen and fished Bethany Ridge Pond's feeder creek. Caught Bluegill/Sunfish and one small Bass on various fishing flies. Pictures posted below.

Celebration Park's North Pond - July 19, 2008

Fished Celebration Park's North Pond for a go at the Catfish again. Despite the heat caught several with the largest going 20". Used Dough Bait and light spinfishing gear. Pictures posted below.

Celebration Park's North Pond - July 16, 2008

Checked out Celebration Park again, but this time fished the North Pond. Used Bread and caught a 2.5lbs Catfish that went 20". Else, a lot of small Bluegill and Sunfish that were ready to strike at anything. Pictures posted below.

Bethany Creek Pond - July 16, 2008

Quick trip this afternoon to Bethany Creek Pond's feeder creek/canal. Fished near the bridge that crosses the canal. Caught several Sunfish and a small fingerling Bass on a Black Nosed Dace. Pictures posted below.

Celebration Park - More Dough Bait Testing: July 14, 2008

Another go at Celebration Park's East Pond this evening to test a variation of a homemade Dough Bait. Boiling the Dough Bait hardened the outer layer, making it easier to keep on the hook. Caught one Catfish that went 14" else Bullheads, Bluegill, and Sunfish. Pictures posted below.

Celebration Park - Dough Bait Test: July 13, 2008

Tried Celebration Park's East Pond this morning to test a homemade Dough Bait. Caught several Catfish that went 15" else more Bullheads and Bluegill. Although messy, Dought Bait stayed on the hook better than the Bread. Pictures posted below.

Returned to Celebration Park's East Pond to see if the Catfish would be active in the heat of the day. Caught one that went 15" else little Bullheads and Bluegill. Used Bread for bait again, but did see others taking them on Catfish Stink Bait. Pictures posted below.

Celebration Park East Pond - July 7, 2008

Returned to fish Celebration Park's East Pond for another chance at the Catfish this evening. Fished with Bread and landed several ranging between 2-lbs to 6-lbs with a mix of smaller Catfish and Panfish for good measure. Pictures posted below.

Lake Lavon and Mckinney Towne Lake - July 5, 2008

Fished Lake Lavon's Brockdale Park this morning. Trolled with jigs off the point; caught zero. Decided to switch to a community lake; fished the creek by Towne Lake in Mckinney. Caught small Bluegill using a Bead Head Natural Dubbing Midge near the bridge that crosses the creek. Pictures posted below.
