Simple Dough Bait and Centerpin Fishing Works for Bullheads!

Short on time but open to available fishing opportunities, made a quick trip to the local pond for Centerpin Fishing for Bullheads using the Simple Dough Bait Recipe.

This time, I let the dough bait harden overnight, and then coated it with some flour. It stayed on the hook well, but I did need to dip it in water before baiting the hook.

Give it a try, and do check back liking the NGT Centerpin Reel decided to order a second one. It delivered Friday, plan to show it at the next livestream!

Try Making Your Own Dough Bait!

Keeping this recipe simple, plus stays on the hook better than bread! Do give it a try... bait stayed on the hook and casted easily with the Centerpin!

Video had me at the local pond where in the past I have caught some nice size Catfish. I normally used bread back then, but I have also had success with dough bait.

I also used spinning gear and freelined the bait - both and bread and dough bait. With the Centerpin gear, I have the added float and split shot. I am not certain if this may be the reason why I am only getting the smaller Bullheads.

Or, the Catfish I caught in the past may no longer be in the pond. I sure do hope they are still there!

Fly Fishing Tip for Older Gents... plus Centerpins? Let's Talk Fishing #livestream #flyfishing #tips

Apologies for the test livestream last night. I was working on a video switcher hardware and thought I was streaming unlisted.

Did get some of the bugs worked out, but still need to figure a way to monitor audio to make sure sound is coming through.

No worries, have a workaround for now.

This round I talk briefly about the Centerpin Fishing at the local pond using bread and then later a dough bait recipe from an article I posted a few years back.

Additionally, I mention a fly fishing tip that helps older fishermen with a touch of nearsighted vision line their fly rods a little more easier!

Also, I mention an app that I am working on to check your hookset, at least the timing of it. Stay tuned for more. Will post soon as I get it working.

Do check it out!

Field Test Went Well. Liking This Batch!

Went fishing at Bethany again to try out another Doughbait recipe.  This one seemed to work well with 13 Catfish caught and released.  Largest went 23" with others going 15" to 19".  Smaller ones were averaging 13" to 14".  Fun stuff!  Even hooked (and released) a Turtle.

Caught a Few Catfish on Doughtbait This Evening!

Made it to Bethany Lakes this evening and fished for Catfish using the Daiwa MadDragon Carp Rod.  Been testing out a new recipe for Doughtbait.  Seemed to have worked well this round. Caught and released about 15 Catfish.  Fish ranged from 13" to 17" in size.  Fun stuff!

Weather Clears,... Caught Two Catfish at Celebration Park!

Weather cleared up, made a break for Celebration Park. Tested out the homemade Method Feeder and a new Doughbait recipe. Caught two Catfish. One went 17" and the other went 19.5"! Fun stuff catching fish while tinkering with other fishing techniques. PS: Not only was the Method Feeder homemade, so was the Baiting Needle and the Strike Indicator.

Rain Delay....

Had a late start this morning, so by the time it was time to go fishing the rain arrived.  Ended up taking care of a few "honey do's" but more important did some tinkering with fishing related things!

Made a few more Foam Divers, made a "homemade method feeder" for Carp Fishing, tried a new way to make a Hair Rig, created a new recipe for a Dough Bait for Carp and Goldfish, stopped at Cabelas and picked up some flytying material (at 30% off), and then rigged up the "homemade method feeder" with the Hair Rig!

Now once the rain stops, hope to see what bites on the Dough Bait using the "homemade method feeder" and Hair Rig!

PS:  Did place an order with Bass Pro Shops for a Carp Rod and Big Carp Tackle for Method Feeders.  Hope the packages arrive in the next week.  Going to try having some fun with a fe Carp and Koi in the area,.. we hope!

Caught and Released a Few Catfish at Glendover!

Went to Glendover Park with JB11 for a go at the Catfish.  Brought Bread and the Homemade Dough Bait.  Action was steady on both baits.  Caught and released 10 Catfish ranging from 16" to 20" in size with the majority going 18"-19"....  Fun stuff!

Caught and Released a Snapping Turtle and Two Catfish!

Fished Bethany Lakes in the early evening.  Things started out slow with the main activity being Ducks!  Had a few nibbles but nothing solid.  Then, got a nice strike that turned out to be a Snapping Turtle!  More nibbles and missed hooksets, then hooked and landed a Bruiser Catfish that went 20.5" in size. Released it, and then soon after caught a smaller Catfish.  Closed out the trip watching more Ducks (that is Ducklings); posted the Bruiser on the Team's Leader Board!

Afternoon Quick Trips Were Not Quick Trips!

Went back out again to brave the windy conditions and do more "field testing" of the Homemade Dough Bait.  Any excuse to justify fishing works for us!

Tried Bethany Lakes and fished the Dough Bait under a Float as well as Freeline.  Had more hits while using the Float; just could not make the hookset.  After awhile, was able to hook and land a Catfish that went about 17" in size.

Then, went to Celebration Park and had fun catching more Catfish and Bullheads!  No Bruisers with the Catfish going about 15" in size!  Fun stuff,....
