Bread For Catfish Bait | Centerpin Fishing Series #fishing #pondfishing #catfish

Decided to fish the local pond to verify if there were still fish lurking in it. In the past, the pond held some nice size Catfish. I suspect there may still be a Bruiser or two but this round I managed three good sized Bullheads.

I used the NGT Centerpin Reel and a Cabelas TLR Switch Rod for the rod/reel combo, and then I used bread formed into bread balls for bait.

The drag free capability of the Centerpin made for some interesting strikes as I watched the fish take the bait and run with it.

Overall, I am excited to add this fishing technique to my fishing arsenal! Do give it a try. No need to spend lots on the reel... if you can get the NGT before stocks run out. The reels is shipped from England and takes a few weeks to deliver, so do plan accordingly!

Catfish and Bluegill like Hotdogs.... YouTube #shorts

Looks like Catfish and Bluegill like hotdogs. In this round, we took the GoFish CAM to the local pond that has lots of Bluegill and Sunfish and the occasional Bass and Bullhead.

The Bluegill acted like Piranhas tearing up the hotdog. But, a Catfish swooped in to take a bite. It was a nice size catfish; it was bigger than my foot!

Catch and Cook | Crappie and Catfish | Simple Recipe!

Bottom bouncing slab and jig rigs set up Sabiki style, managed four fish – a Shad, a Crappie, a Channel Catfish, and a Yellow Bass.

Kept the Crappie and Catfish and prepared them for the Catch and Cook by filleting them, seasoning with Garlic Salt, Season Salt, and Black Pepper.

After marinating for a couple hours, added a sprinkling of Seasoned Pepper, and then melted butter in oil.

Cooked the fillets for 5 to 10 minutes each side, and then served them with Fried Rice and Squash.

Tasty!

Lake Lavon Fishing | Slabs, Shad, and the Lazy Man Fishing Method!

Fished Lake Lavon this past weekend. Saturday at Brockdale; Sunday at Highland. This is the follow-up video showing the action Sunday.

Windy and lots of waves to deal with, luckily the twelve foot jon boat and 2.5 Suzuki Outboard made for an easy run to the Water Treatment Plant for some fun with White Bass.

Later, made it back to the Point, found some Shad in the brushy areas with the cast net, and then fished a modified Sabiki Rig… replace the Slab with a weight and the Crappie Jigs with hooks.

Caught several keeper size Catfish – largest went 19 inches, and White Bass as well. Also, released several undersized Catfish and White Bass as well as Yellow Bass.

Overall, it was a fun trip. Did see the drainage area is flooded by the Water Treatment Plant… but most important learned the Lazy Man Fishing Method!

PS: The 2.5 Suzuki Outboard works well as a pillow!

Jon Boat Fishing | Easy Catfishing at the Local Lake

Still breaking in the new Suzuki 2.5hp Outboard but finally got to go fishing, too! Started out catch bait – Shad, at the boat ramp. Then, ran to a few submerged trees for a chance at Crappie. No luck on the Crappie, so opted to run the motor a little before deciding to anchor in a spot that was out of the wind and fish for whatever was biting. Was a fun time catching dinner at the local lake!

YouTube Shorts | Kayak Fishing | Juglining for Catfish

YouTube Shorts video on a fun trip fishing for catfish using homemade diy juglines while out in the kayak on the local lake! Caught a big one that I had to land on shore… no net and windy conditions. Better to take it to the boat ramp. Add it to the COAF Shorts playlist – click to see more.

Denison Dam Fishing | GoFish Cam at the Oklahoma Wall

Made it back for more Denison Dam fishing for striped bass. Used our surfcasting gear to fish the Oklahoma Wall and worked the area using a Float and Jig/Fly Rig. Fishing buddy limited out; yours truly did not.

Lots of small stripers but did keep enough for dinner. No catch and cook this round but did get lots of underwater footage with the @GoFish Cam …learned there are lots of small stripers along the Oklahoma Wall which we anticipated given past trips. But, also noticed lots of small catfish, too!

Longer than normal video… decided to minimize the edits and post more raw footage from the GoFish Cam in case viewers see something we missed.

So far, we noticed Striped Bass, Channel Catfish, Blue Catfish, a glimpse of Buffalo, and a Bluegill. Do comment if you see others we may have missed!

Lake Lavon Fishing - Kayaking and Juglining Gets Kayak PB! #kayakfishing #juglining #catfish

Fun time juglining and kayak fishing Lake Lavon Saturday. Even caught a personal best Blue Catfish from a kayak… went 30 plus inches!

Did catch a bigger one several years ago on Lake Lavon but that was in a jon boat and with a fishing buddy. This one was caught and landed by yours truly!

Lots of fun… had to make a run to shore to land it. Lots of winds and waves and no net; did not want to risk losing it trying to land it in the kayak.

Longer than normal video… includes details on the kayak jug lines used and setting up the first group of three jug lines.

In keeping with the COAF Field Team’s motto… “Learn to fish by our trials and errors”

Kayak Fishing Lavon - Backpaddling Keeps Working! #kayaking #kayakfishing #lakelavon

Here is the follow-on video of yesterday’s kayak fishig trip to Lake Lavon. Bought new kayak fishing sandals from the Columbia Allen Outlet Store to replace the ones that “blew a flat” last year.

Had to give them a “test drive” and take them fishing. Decided on putting in at Lavonia South Ramp. Lots of boats and jet skis but did manage to catch a nice Catfish, several Yellow Bass, and a Crappie.

All caught bottom bouncing a Slab and Jig Rig by backpaddling the kayak along a drop off near the boat ramp.

Fun stuff… do stay tune for more videos and be on the lookout for the new kayak fishing sandals, our footwear of choice in the Summer!

More Jugline Fishing for Catfish #lakelavon

Was a tough start Saturday… windy and a little chilly, plus no shad at the boat ramp at Highland Park. Made the quick adjustment, and decided to head to calmer waters… Bratonia Park, and to the Branch Convenience Store for bait.

No shad but they did have Nightcrawlers. Enough for us to get started setting out juglines. Luckily, did catch a few shad in the shallows as well.

In short order, had our lines deployed. But, took almost two hours before the first bite… a Blue Catfish that went for Shad.

After the first one was caught, bite stayed steady with several undersized caught and released; and then, we caught six Catfish – five Blue Catfish and one Channel Catfish, for the stringer for Dinner… Blackened Catfish and Shrimp Etouffee!

Near Deere Goes to School This Round

Decided to fish Plano East Senior High School's catch and release ponds to get some practice fishing a Near Deere Fishing Fly under a strike indicator. Had a number of missed strikes using this rig on the Lower Mountain Fork River. So, better get some practice in (also, a good excuse to go fishing!).

Started out fishing areas that normally hold Bass but did not hook up. Then, had a Catfish take the fishing fly, followed by a Sunfish, and then another Catfish. Kept at it for a little longer, and hooked into a third Catfish that put up a really nice fight on the Five-Weight Fly Rod.

Fun stuff!

Jug Lining This Morning

Did some Jug Lining this morning at Lake Lavon. Put in at Little Ridge Park by the Power Plant.  Baited up with Shad and then waited for about a half-hour before the first bite.

Turned out to be a Catfish that went 20". A few more strikes and missed hook sets, and then had another Catfish take that went just over 22". Then, had a little Catfish strike that we let go. Kept at it for a few more, and managed to get a Catfish that went 19"!

Overall, action was slower than other trips but Catfish seemed larger this time. Fun morning!

Another Round at Texoma

Decided to give Lake Texoma another go this Saturday morning. Put in a Highport Marina, and then paddled out to one of the Lake's islands.  Set up with a tandem-rig with a Rat-L-Trap on bottom and a Tube Fly Jig above it.

Caught little Stripers, a Catfish, and Gaspergou. The Stripers were caught trolling, sight casting from the kayaks, as well as wade fishing from the shallows. At times, had schools of Stripers boiling around us while wading!

Lots of fun, and had a great workout too!

Jug Line Fishing on Lake Lavon Saturday Morning

Fished Lake Lavon Saturday morning and caught six Keepers. Largest went 4 pounds; caught them using Shad on Jug Lines!

Really nice morning with lower than normal temperatures for this time of year. Had to move around a little to find Shad for bait, but did find a spot that provided more than enough for this round.

Enjoying the nice weather, and the laid back style of fishing!

Did re-rig the Jug Lines with new line, same ones we posted in an article about Jug Line Fishing. This time, tried stopper knots above and below the drop lines. Seemed to have more hook ups this time!

Bite Was Steady This Morning On Jug Lines at Ticky Creek

Fished Lake Lavon at Ticky Creek this morning. Bite was steady with 15 Keepers; largest went 19" in size. Most went for Shad that we caught by the boat ramp. Did catch a couple of Gaspergou; used one for cut bait. Ended catching several on cut bait also! Fun stuff with most caught in 11'-12' of water with hooks set 1' and 2' from the bottom.

Fun Time Catching Catfish On Jug Lines This Morning!

Fished Lake Lavon at Ticky Creek Park this morning. Calm morning but the Shad were in the area as well as a few Catfish that lucked into our lines! Had a number of missed strikes from Yellow Bass possibly; even foul hooked one. Ended up with five Keepers but let go one because it just did not look right. Of the four we kept, three Blue Catfish and one Channel Catfish. Largest Catfish was a Blue Catfish that went 18". Fun stuff... having a Beer Batter Fish Fry later!

Bank Fishing This Round... Only One Little Catfish

Went bank fishing this round. Back to Ticky Creek Park where we fished with jug lines yesterday. Used surf casting gear to get out where we placed the jug lines. Wanted to see if the bite was good from the bank. Had a lot of missed strikes, but did catch one little Catfish.
