Catch a Fish Before Work

Quick BFS Session = Success! 🎣

Can you catch a fish before the day job starts? I gave it a shot this morning and it actually worked!

Grabbed the BFS gear for a quick session and the fish cooperated. Nothing beats starting the workday with a fresh catch and a big smile on your face.

Success on a tight schedule! These short windows of fishing time are precious, and when the BFS setup comes through, it makes it all worthwhile.

If you’re a working angler trying to squeeze in fishing around real life, keep at it. Even a quick session can make the whole day better.

Updates for the day

Brief Description - Fished the local pond shortly after a storm passed. Plan was to fish the Main Pond and
see what would bite.

Location - Bethany Lakes - Main Pond and Back Pond

Weather - Overcast

Gear - KastKing Zephyr with Reel Clicker and Bass Pro Shops MicroLite Fiberglass Rod. Used a 1/16oz Rooster Tail inline spinner in Fire Tiger and Gold Blade.

Catch - Six Bass - five in the Main Pond and one in the Back Pond. One Bluegill from the Main Pond.

Notes - Still not seeing any Bluegill on beds. Bass are lurking on beds as well as cruising shallows. Do need to use a steady retrieve to keep the lure from getting clobbered from the "greenery" plus the "cotton" from the Cottonwood Trees are floating around. Time for knotless leaders when fly fishing!

Ultralight Baitcasting on a Pier? #fishing #saltwater #baitfinesse

Great start to our trip to the Texas Coast, fishing the Galveston Fishing Pier in 2022!

Steady action on sand trout, hardheads and gaff top... with a nice 41 inch redfish to spice things up.

Even broke out the ultralight baitcaster and the tandem rigged spec rigs for sand trout under the lights!

Shimano 17 Scorpion BFS Reel | Daiwa Minicast Rod | Casts 1/16oz Lure!

First time fishing the Shimano 17 Scorpion BFS Reel mounted on the Daiwa Minicast Rod!

After a backlash on the first cast, followed by several overruns, and then adjusting the spool tension and brakes, able to let it rip and cast in the dark without a backlash.

Liking casting 1/16oz Rooster Tails in the dark without a backlash!

Did not catch a fish but did learn the feel of the rod and reel combo and trained the thumb to cast confidently in the dark.

Next step… catch a fish!

PS. The 5ft rod breaks down into 5 pieces making it easier to “store” in the backpack I take to the day job!

Ultralight Bass Fishing | Kastking Zephyr and 1/16oz Rooster Tail Works!

Fished the local pond with the Kastking Zephyr BFS reel on a Shakespeare Microcast Rod and 1/16oz Roostertail. Switched the 10lbs braided line that had a 2lbs mono equivalent diameter for 4lbs mono… no more line slipping under the spool!

Caught two bass and found a lure someone lost… not bad, left with more lures than I had at the start. Not the norm for yours truly!
