Went bank fishing this round. Back to Ticky Creek Park where we fished with jug lines yesterday. Used surf casting gear to get out where we placed the jug lines. Wanted to see if the bite was good from the bank. Had a lot of missed strikes, but did catch one little Catfish.

Decided to try fishing from the bank this round. Having caught Gaspergou while drifting a kayak near shore, figured casting from the bank would produce a fish or two. After over an hour without a strike, finally caught one - a Gaspergou. Kept on fishing but only managed one more fish - an undersized White Bass. Fun stuff!

Brought Surfcasting Gear this evening (Thursday) and fished from the bank at Clear Lake Park on Lake Lavon. Had noticed that the White Bass were in surfcasting distance while kayak fishing last weekend. Started fishing a Weight and Jig Rig with Tandem Crappie Jigs. No strikes for an hour, then switched to a Slab and Jig Rig. Managed to catch four White Bass (undersized) and one Gaspergou! Fun stuff!

Decided to checkout Lake Lavon at Ticky Creek. Brought surfcasting gear and used an old Newell Reel that had been gathering dust for a while. Got some good casting practice in, backlashes and all. Even managed to get a couple of White Bass to strike! Fun stuff!

Fished the area south of Lavonia Park to try for White Bass. Very promising area per reports from TFF's TarponFly. Brought the Carp Rod that we like to use for long distance surfcasting. Also, brought Slabs and Crappie Jigs as suggested. After walking from the parking area to the point near the Dam, noticed a lot of fish activity on the surface (note: the walk was muddy from yesterday's rain; we found it easier to wade the shoreline at times). Casted for distance and had a few short strikes before finally hooking into one... a Largemouth Bass. Kept at it some more and hooked a Yellow Bass. Then, a few boats passed through the area, so the bite was off for a few. Then, started getting strikes again after things settled down. More missed strikes but did get a Keeper White Bass that struck the Slab! Fun stuff... will need to come back and bring the Kayak next round. Perfect area for some trolling!
Been wanting to practice casting with the surfcasting gear for awhile. Decided to go for it today as the wind was gusting to 40+ mph. Rigged a Jig and Float Rig and hit Bethany Lakes. Fun stuff,... managed some long distance cast by taking advantage of the wind. Even caught a little Bass!
