Fast Retrieve, Be Ready for Stripers #fishing #flyfishing #tips

Fishing a tailrace, be ready for stripers. In this case, was having a blast catching small Stripers and White Bass working a Clouser Minnow on a fast retrieve. 

Tried various retrieves but overall they wanted a fast retrieve like in the video!

Had fun fly fishing for little Stripers at the local dam. Denison Dam serves as the tailrace to Lake Texoma. When generating power the Stripers show and lots of action can be had for both fly fishermen and surf casters!

But, don't forget to fish when the current is slack. You may be surprised how many fish lurk in the area.

Back to Denison Dam Tailrace, Again!

Fished Denison Dam today.  Brought some shade and started early.  Stayed till the power plant began generating, then headed home.  Other than a short rain shower, sun was out in force.  Shade made a difference in being able to fish longer.  Too bad we did not get any Bruisers but did have steady action on Stripers, even caught and released a Gaspergou, an undersized Flathead Catfish, and a little Bluecat.  Fun stuff!
