HubPages Article - "Griffith's Gnat on a Caddis Hook"

Here is a variant of the Griffith's Gnat to try for Bluegill - Griffith's Gnat on a Caddis Hook. It's a simple tie and few material is needed.  Used a Caddis Hook and Olive Tying Thread; did not have any dry fly hooks or black tying thread.

Auburn Springs This Time

Tied a variant of the Griffith's Gnat and fished Auburn Springs this time.  Had a few strikes and misses, and then started to connect.  Little Bluegill but still fun catching on a Dry Fly!

Quick Trip This Round

Late start today but did make it for a quick trip to Bethany Lakes.  Caught a few Sunfish and Bluegill; little guys but still fun to catch.  All went for a Griffith's Gnat.

Fun with Panfish

Had fun catching Panfish today.  Worked the Waterfall and the Lower Pond and hooked and landed a number of Bluegill and Sunfish!  Midges, Dry Flies, Griffith;s Gnats, Prince Nymph... all were working with the bigger fish going for the Griffith's Gnat. Suspect its "bugginess" is what attracted the fish!

More Fun at Russell Creek Park!

Spent the afternoon fly fishing at Russell Creek Park in Plano.  Mainly used the Yellow Foam Spider but did catch a few with a Pheasant Tail Nymph and a Griffith's Gnat.  Caught and released 34... fun stuff!

60 Fish This Round at Russell Creek!

Back to Russell Creek in Plano for more fishing.  Wanted to see how many fish could be caught before we had to leave.

Brought the Four Weight Fly Rod and made a slight variation to the Grasshopper Fishing Fly.  Used a size 12 Caddis Hook this time; seemed to get more hookups.

Also, used a Dry Fly, Lefty Deceiver, Damsel Flies, and a Griffith's Gnat.  Ended up catching and releasing 60 fish.

Two were Bass; they were small ones but did see some nice ones lurking in the area!  Just did not want to strike.

No action shots this time; just video of the fish.  Sped the video to show all 60 fish.  Also, have some footage of two snakes mating (possibly).

Two Trout on a Dry Fly this Round!

Another quick trip after work this evening.  Had less than 40" of light on arrival; luckily the Trout were actively feeding on something on the water's surface.  Had trouble yesterday getting them on a Dry Fly.  This time managed to catch two using a Griffith's Gnat and lost another two while bringing them in!  Fun stuff!
