How We Caught Sand Trout at Galveston Fishing Pier

Here is a brief demo of the technique we used fishing for Sand Trout this past week at Galveston Fishing Pier. Slow reel, trout mouths lure, feel pressure (resistance), set hook! Do give it a try... should work for Speckle Trout, too. Let us know if it works for you, too!

Lots of fun fishing at the Galveston Fishing Pier. Caught lots of fish, including a Shark!

Tail Mount of a Spanish Mackerel

When we fished the Galveston Fishing Pier the other day, we caught our first Spanish Mackerel.  We wanted to try something different to capture the moment other than taking a picture, so we decided on trying a Tail Mount!  After a little research on the Internet, got an understanding of how to make one.  We liked it better than a picture; not bad for a bunch of "non-pros"!

Fished Galveston This Round!

Decided to make a road trip to the coast Saturday.  Noticed a couple of fishing piers in Galveston that looked promising. Opted for the Galveston Fishing Pier (also known as the 91st Street Pier).

Fished for about 10 hours and caught a number of fish.  Of note were several small Sharks, Gafftop, a big Stingray (but lost the pics and video), and a Spanish Mackerel!

Caught the Sharks using Squid, the Gafftop using Squid as well as cut bait, and the Stingray using Squid.

Other fish were caught using Shrimp.  None were Bruisers but we did have several breakoffs that we suspect were Bruisers!
