Fished Clear Lake this morning with the kayak. Tried drifting for Catfish with Shad; had two nibbles but no hook ups. Switched to a Slab and Jig Rig and had one take but failed to set the hook well. Kept at it; a White Bass struck but was not a Keeper. Went another 30"; another struck. It was a Keeper. Only two White Bass this round with only one Keeper. Still a fun time!
Went to Clear Lake Park at Lavon yesterday. Rain was looming in the distance, decided to bring the cast net and catch some Shad for bait. Found that one of the two boat ramps was closed. Luckily, the other remained open, so we were able to cast our net and catch a few Shad before we called it a trip!
Checked out Clear Lake Park Wednesday evening to test the fish finder. Was able to get an understanding of the area's water depth; also caught several undersized White Bass. And then, checked it out again Thursday morning. Used a short cut to get to the South side; worked the area and managed to get two Keepers! This round went with a Slab and Crappie Jig Rig. Fish were lurking well below the surface.

Made an underwater camera housing for the video camera. Decided to give it a try and capture trolling an umbrella rig. Went to Clear Lake Park on Lake Lavon yesterday and gave it a test run. Was windy and the water was murky; really tough to see anything. Did capture some video; also, we did get a Gaspergou so we did not strike out completely. Will give it another try later.

Returned to Clear Lake Park on Lake Lavon. Fished with the kayak and trolled crappie jigs. Managed three undersized White Bass; no Keepers this round. Did get a few hard strikes but could not set the hook in time. Till next time... Good Luck and Good Fishing!

Decided to try fishing from the bank this round. Having caught Gaspergou while drifting a kayak near shore, figured casting from the bank would produce a fish or two. After over an hour without a strike, finally caught one - a Gaspergou. Kept on fishing but only managed one more fish - an undersized White Bass. Fun stuff!

Was busy doing some "honey do's " Saturday. Did have an opportunity to fish later on. Was debating about taking the kayak or using surfcasting gear to fish Clear Lake Park on Lake Lavon. Wind was picking up so kayak fishing may have been tough. In the end, went with the kayak... figured the "Island" would provide enough protection so we could fish. It didn't.... regardless, launched the kayak and fished the area from boat ramp to boat ramp without a strike. Then, decided on a workout and headed to the leeward side of the "Island". Still no bites but the anchored boats and music playing made for a party-like atmosphere. On the way back to the boat ramp, slow-trolled the Crappie Jig we by letting the wind drift the kayak. Wind was pushing in the right direction but did not get a strike. Was getting ready to call it a trip when a fish struck the jig while we were pulling the kayak ashore. The kayak was beached and the line was still trailing behind; waves and wind were causing it to bounce up and down. Reeled the line in; it was a Gaspergou. Could not leave the fishing while they were biting. So, launched the kayak again and started working the bottom by paddling upwind to setup for a drift, then slowed the kayak where the jig would bounce along the bottom. When setup correctly the rod tip would shake and bounce in unison with the jig bouncing along the bottom. Ended up catching three more Gaspergou. Also, caught a White Bass while paddling upwind but had to release it as it was not a keeper. Fun stuff... especially when you accidentally find a pattern that works!

Took the kayaks Friday and trolled jigs round Clear Lake Park on Lake Lavon. Slower action compared to the other day we kayak fished. Managed undersized White Bass on Red/White Crappie Jigs. Fun stuff!

Brought Surfcasting Gear this evening (Thursday) and fished from the bank at Clear Lake Park on Lake Lavon. Had noticed that the White Bass were in surfcasting distance while kayak fishing last weekend. Started fishing a Weight and Jig Rig with Tandem Crappie Jigs. No strikes for an hour, then switched to a Slab and Jig Rig. Managed to catch four White Bass (undersized) and one Gaspergou! Fun stuff!

Fished Clear Lake Park on Lavon yesterday. Brought the kayaks and trolled a White Roadrunner and a Red/White Crappie Jig. Caught and released 30+ fish - all were undersized White Bass except for one Yellow Bass. Been a while since we been to Clear Lake Park; will likely be back again!
