Bass On The Fly This Time

Fun time catching Bass on the fly yesterday afternoon.  Cooler temps but did get several to take a fishing fly - used a Dry Fly, Olive Wooley Bugger, and a White Guadalupana.  Fun stuff!

Today's Round at Frisco....

No action shots this round; had a low battery.  Forgot to charge the camera since the last outing.  No worries, able to get enough footage of the Trout (as well as several Bluegill) that were caught.

Started off with a COAF Guadalupana that the little Bluegill liked.  Then, switched to an Ultralight and caught three Rainbow Trout on a Gold Super Duper.  Went back to fly fishing and got them to take a Size 10 Gold Bead Head Wooley Bugger.

Key to hooking up was a slow retrieve when fishing the Super Duper and a long pulls and 6-8 count stop and go retrieve when fishing the Wooley Bugger.

Fun stuff... decided to cook them with Cajun Blackened Seasoning on a hot iron skillet!

On The Guadalupe This Round

Had a chance to check out a place we never had fished yesterday.  Heard promising things about fishing the Guadalupe River at the Rio Raft Access Point.  It's in the special restriction section that has an 18" Minimum, 1 Trout per day limit and only artificials can be used.  No worries though, caught zero Trout but still had a good time.  Action was slow with only a little Bass and two Longear Sunfish caught and released.  Even better that we were the only ones fishing that section at times!

Caught a Few; Missed a Few....

Fished Bethany this morning with the Fly Rod.  Caught a few and missed a few.  One Bass and several Sunfish. Did have one Bass break the line though.  Fun stuff!

Back To Bethany This Evening

Fished Bethany this evening.  Used a fly rod and caught bluegill and bass using an Elk Hair Caddis Fly and and Olive Wooley Bugger.  Steady action despite the 100+ Temps; even had a Bruiser break the line.  Till next time... Good luck and good fishing!

Kroger Park Then Bethany Lakes Today!

Checked out White Rock Creek this morning.  Did a little scouting along one of the feeder creeks with no success.

Decided to head back to Allen, then fished Kroger Park.  Caught Bluegill and saw a Bruiser Bass looking like it was getting a spawning bed ready.

After catching a few Bluegill, went across the street to Bethany Lakes and managed one Bass and a Sunfish!

Used the Guadalupana, Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymph, and a Red Midge to catch the Bluegill.  Used an Olive Wooley Bugger to get the Bass and the Sunfish.

Great day today; fun stuff!

Sunfish at Davis Library Pond

Stopped by the pond by Davis Library to see if fish were biting despite the cold temps.  They were... Sunfish were taking a Olive Wooley Bugger drifted slowly! Was not able to fish for long but did manage five with one that went about 7"-8" in size!  Fun stuff!

More Fun at Waterloo

Too nice a day... went back to Waterloo for more fun catching Trout.  Limited out with five Trout.  Also, caught and released a good number as well.  Trout were actively feeding; action was fast and steady.  Saw a number of limits taken on Corn, Powerbait, Powerbait Worms, and Super Dupers!

In our case, used the Four Weight Fly Rod/Reel and caught them on the Guadalupana and a Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymph.  Did get strikes with an Olive Wooley Bugger is size 10 but tended to miss the hookset.  Had more success using the size 12 - 2X Streamer Hook that we use to tie the Guadalupana and the size 14 Scud Hook that we use for the GRHEN.

Still editing the video; will plan to post as soon as possible.

Update:  Video of the action:

Three More Bass on the Fly this Evening.

Took the opportunity to fish the evening bite at Bethany.  Went with the same gear and fishing fly as this morning - Three Weight Fly Rod and an Olive Wooley Bugger.  Caught three Bass, missed several others, and had a lot of fun the whole time.

Did see others catching them on the Rip and Rap Rapala!  Looks like Crankbaits are working well for others too!

Village Holding Well... Bass and Bruiser Bluegill!

Stopped by the Village for a go at the Bass.  Fished a Guadalupana, BH Olive Wooley Bugger, and Brown Damsel Fly Variant.  Caught several Bass on the Guadalupana but ended up losing it when a Bruiser struck!  Went with the Wooley Bugger and caught more Bass and then lucked in to some Bruiser Bluegill,... largest ones went 8.5" with wide bodies giving them extra heft!  Ended the outing with one more Bass on the Damsel Fly Variant.  Glad to see the Village made it through last season's drought conditions.  PS: Since the Bluegill met the minimum 8" length, have posted them on the COAF Leader Board!

Waterloo Continues to Produce Trout!

The bite was still on at Waterloo. Noted limits being taken with Corn, Powerbait Trout Bait, and Powerbait Nuggets!  Was able to limit out -  caught four Trout on Powerbait in Rainbow Glitter and one on a Globug Fishing Fly.  Caught and released two more - one went for the Globug and the other went for an Olive Wooley Bugger!  Fun stuff on a really nice day with temps in the 60's!
