Denison Today

Fished Denison Dam today.  Hot temps and slow action were the case this trip.  Managed to catch a few Catfish and several little Stripers.  Interesting to have the Stripers go for Chicken Livers!  Later in the afternoon, the power plant started generating, really clouded the water with the lake "turning over" - water was cloudy, green, and smelled like sulfur.  Still had fun catching them!

One Little Catfish on a Jug Line....

Took the jug lines to Ticky Creek this evening.  Went with Chicken Liver for bait and free-floating jug lines; no anchors this time.

Slow go though. Caught one little Catfish on a jug line and two small White Bass trolling a Roadrunner on a handline.  Decided to get some exercise and do some trolling while waiting for the fish to bite.

Lotta fun, even better to see another fisherman's stringer of three Bruiser Catfish using jug lines (largest one can be seen in the video clip)!  Good to see they do work.

More Than One This Round

Set two Trot Lines out last night.  Had only caught one Catfish last round.  This time caught five Catfish - three we kept for Dinner and two that we released because they were too small.  Used Shrimp and Chicken Livers for bait.  The Shrimp seemed to work better than the Chicken Livers.  Better to have gone with Shad for bait but had a tough time catching them in our cast net.  After picking up the Trot Lines, did a little Jug Lining; had a hit or two but no hookups.  Oh well, have enough fillets for Dinner.  Courtesy of the largest of the three Catfish we caught; measured 22" in length!

Jug Lining at Brockdale Park

Went to Brockdale Park this evening and set out Jug Lines.  Let them soak for about 2 hours; had a few light hits but no hookups.  Used Chicken Liver that tended not to stay on the hook.  Although a bust, was still fun taking the kayak out and "fishing".... Sure beats working!
