One More Go Fishing at the Beach - July 18, 2013

One more go fishing at the beach before we head back.  Lots of seaweed made it tough to fish but did manage to catch a 14" Speckle Trout.  Also, caught bait fish using the cast net and saw a Portuguese Man O' War wash up on the beach!

Jetty Boat Fishing - July 15, 2013

Decided to take the Jetty Boat in Port Aransas and see how the fish were biting on Monday, July 15.  Things started out slow but a couple of Black Tip Shark were caught.  Moved to another spot and caught Angel Fish; others caught a Red Fish and a Red Snapper.  Made one more stop and caught another type of Snapper.  Fun stuff once the bite was on!

More Fun on the Coast - July 14, 2013

Setup for another go at fishing while at Port Aransas.  Started out catching Whiting for bait, then used the kayak to deploy baits past the third sand bar.  Hoped for Shark but ended up with a Keeper Speckle Trout that went 18" in size, a large Whiting, and a 24"+ Ladyfish!  Fun stuff!

Back to the Coast - July 13, 2013!

Made it to the Coast again.  This time went to Port Aransas. Caught some Ghost Shrimp and then a little fish!  Really nice day with a fair amount of people enjoying the beach.

Island Tackle (Port Aransas)

While on the Texas Gulf Coast last year, stopped by the Island Tackle Store and bought circle hooks.  Really liked them but never wrote down the brand name.  Went back this year, bought more circle hooks, and this time took a picture of the brand name so as not to forget.  The brand name is Fishtamer Hooks.  Great value with the same quality as more expensive brands!

The 3/0 size works well for using Bread for bait when Catfish fishing but is a little on the small size for those Bruisers lurking in the community lakes and ponds.  This time went with the 6/0 size... It worked well for hooking up on the little Shark we caught from the surf earlier this week.  Suspect it will work well on a few Bruiser Catfish, too!
