There’s something special about fishing after the sun goes down. The world gets quiet, the water feels different, and every little sound becomes important.

Last night I headed out with almost zero visibility. The camera struggled, the video ended up pretty dark, but that didn’t stop the action. I talked through everything as it happened — the cast, the retrieve, the sudden thump, and the fight that followed.

A solid bass decided it was hungry and smashed the bait in complete darkness. Hearing that rod load up when you can’t see the fish is pure adrenaline. I walked through every second out loud so you can feel the moment even if the picture is black.

Night fishing forces you to slow down, listen harder, and trust your instincts. Sometimes the best bites happen when the lights are off.

This small pattern has been absolutely on fire. Watching fish rise and sip it off the surface never gets old. Today was one of those magical sessions where everything just clicked.

Tiny flies often match what the fish are naturally feeding on and can turn good days into epic ones — especially on pressured ponds. This session was pure fun from start to finish and a great reminder that sometimes less is definitely more.

Hey friends! What a fun pond fly fishing session — 13 fish caught and released out of 24 hooked, all thanks to one tiny little fly! 🎣

There’s something magical about watching fish rise to a small pattern. I kept things light and let that little fly do the talking. The fish were sipping it off the surface like it was candy. Pond fly fishing never disappoints when the conditions are right!

Why the Tiny Fly Worked

Small flies often outperform bigger ones on pressured pond fish. They look more natural and match the tiny insects or baitfish the fish are already feeding on. This session was a perfect reminder that sometimes “less is more” when it comes to fly selection.

Every rise, every fight, and every healthy release made the day special. Fly fishing ponds is such an enjoyable, accessible way to get out and connect with the water.

Tenkara Fishing a Pond with Foam Grasshoppers! #tenkarafishing #flyfishing

Finally got a much needed haircut after two months! Feel much better now, what to do to celebrate… GO FISHING. Since the Tenkara Iwana Rod from Tenkara USA is at the ready in the little pickup truck, hit the closest pond from the barber… Kroger Park.

Water was clear and the Bass and Bluegill were there. Caught a few, missed a few, had a great time! Fished a “beat up Foam Grasshopper” where the tail was missing, the Beavertail Variant, and then another variant that uses a different foam cutter… cannot recall the name – stonefly, damsel fly… regardless, fish were biting!
