Erwin Park Pond - May 27, 2008

Fished Erwin Park Pond in the city of Mckinney this evening. Caught 6 small Bass ranging in 7.5" to 8" in size and a 8" Bluegill. All were caught flyfishing using a Black Marabou Streamer. Quick trip lasted about 45" but more strikes than hook-ups occured. View of the park's pond and pictures of today's catch are posted below.

Lake Lavon @ Brockdale Park - May 25, 2008

Went back to fish Lake Lavon's Brockdale Park this afternoon. Used the Jon Boat in lieu of the kayak today. Windy day with lots of waves to beat you around.

Did manage to catch 30+ small White Bass with 7 Keepers. Also caught 1 Yellow Bass. All were caught trolling with 1/16oz White Crappie Jigs, a variant of a White Crappie Jig, and a Green and White Clouser Minnow. Pictures posted below.

Lake Lavon @ Brockdale Park - May 24, 2008

Fished Lake Lavon's Brockdale Park again this morning for a couple of hours. Went in the kayak and trolled a White Crappie Jig and a variant tied with Pearl Chenille and White Krystalflash.

Caught 20+ small White Bass and one Keeper. Opted to release rather than take the one Keeper. Windy day again but still worth a try given the consistent action.

Lake Lavon @ Brockdale Park - May 23, 2008

Returned to Lake Lavon's Brockdale Park this evening for a quick try at the White Bass. Launched the kayak from the beach and then worked the point. Caught and released over 20+ small White Bass. Caught 4 Keepers ranging from 10" to 12".

Trolled 1/16oz White Crappie Jigs and paddled the kayak back and forth across the point. Consistent hits despite the strong wind and wave action. Not a bad outing for only one hour on the water. Picture of today's catch and the kayak we used today are posted below.

Allen Station Creek - May 19, 2008

Fished Allen Station Creek downstream from the Allen Station Dam. Caught one small Sunfish and lost two others. Used flyfishing gear and a Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymph. Lake Lavon @ Brockdale Park - May 17, 2008

Fished Lake Lavon at Brockdale Park. Caught 9 Keeper White Bass. Also, caught and released 1 Yellow Bass, 1 Crappie, and over 30+ small White Bass. All were caught trolling with 1/16oz White Crappie Jigs. Picture posted below.

Weekend Updates - May 10-11, 2008

Quick updates from this weekend's activities. Fished Bethany Lakes Saturday morning, a creek in Plano in the afternoon, and then fished Lake Lavon Sunday afternoon. Bethany Lakes produced two fish - a Sunfish and a Bluegill. A lot of activity, just could not connect. Used flyfishing gear and a Brown Nymph and Gangle-Legged Fly. The creek in Plano is located near John Carpenter Park west of Independence and San Simeon. Caught three fish working the banks and brush piles. Used flyfishing gear and a Brown Nymph. Lake Lavon at Brockdale Park produced 5 keeper-sized White Bass ranging in 12" to 14" in size. Also, caught and released 5 Yellow Bass and over 30 White Bass. Bethany Lakes - May 9, 2008

Fished Bethany Lakes' Main Pond. Caught four fish in the morning - a small Bluegill, a larger Bluegill, a 14" Bass, and a 13" Bass. Another fisherman caught a Catfish on a wacky-rigged lizard in green. Came back in the evening and caught an 8.5" Bass with a number of missed strikes. Video posted below. Bethany Lakes and Spring Creek - May 6 and 7, 2008

Fished Bethany Lakes' Main Pond yesterday. Caught one Bluegill on a Red and White Streamer. Think the recent rains changed the pattern and slowed the fishing activity. Today, fished Spring Creek in Plano just off of Chisum Trail. Caught a Sunfish and several Bluegill-like fish on a Prince Nymph Fly. Videos posted below.
