Bring Gloves and Dress Warm!

Fished Bethany Lakes at Lunch. Tried Gold, Copper, and Silver Super Dupers without a strike. It was cold and kept having to break the ice forming on the rod tip. Only One This AM

Back to Bethany Lakes this morning for Trout. More wind but not as cold as the past two days. Caught only one Trout this morning around 7AM. Missed several others but failed to set the hook. Also, casted a Gold Super Duper and had one hit but no hook-up.
Saw others catching them on bait and lures, noting one angler caught a Trout near the pier area using a Silver Super Duper. Would have stayed longer but had to leave around 9AM to run errands.
Note: Only used Orange Powerbait this morning; ran out of Chartreuse and was unable to stock up at the local Wal-Mart, Academy, and Dick's Sporting Goods. All were out of Trout PowerBait last night. Luckily, the stomach content of the one Trout was filled with Orange PowerBait.

Another Try For Trout.

Checked out Bethany Lakes this morning hoping for another try for Trout. Windier than yesterday and still cold. Managed to catch two Trout - one on Corn and the other on Chartreuse Powerbait. Remainder of the morning went slow with several light strikes but no hook-ups until about 9AM. After 9AM, no more nibbles. Kept at it for another hour without success. Decided to call it a day. FYI: Had hits on both Chartreuse and Orange Powerbait. Observed others catching them with bait and lures. Stomach contents of the two Trout were empty. PS: Fishermen reported success with Gold Super Dupers in the late afternoon/early evening. Cast far and work the lure on a slow retrieve.
Two Trout.

Bethany Lakes Trout

Fished Bethany Lakes this evening. Had a late start due to work. Regardless, was able to wet a line and hook a few. Opted to fish various baits in lieu of lures, but did see others taking them on Gold Supers Dupers and Kastmasters. Did not get a bite until 7PM; stuck it out till 11PM when the park closed. Caught two more for a total of three Trout. All were taken using Chartreuse Powerbait. Other baits used but failed to produce were: Corn, Cheese with Garlic, Bread, Salmon Eggs, and Orange Powerbait. Fished the Chartreuse and Orange side by side, not a nibble on the Orange. Don't know what the difference was given it was night. Thought it was chance, but checked stomach contents and found one empty and two with only Chartreuse Powerbait (see inset in the photo below). Not sure what it really means, other than they will be hungry tomorrow.

Celebration Park's East Pond.

Stopped by Celebration Park's East Pond and checked out the fish. Bluegill and Sunfish remain active, catching a few small ones flyfishing a Prince Nymph just below the water's surface. Also, the Catfish continue to bite on Bread although they are much smaller than ones caught this summer. Sampling of today's catch posted below. Sampling of Today's Catch. Cold Morning; Bluegill Still Biting.

Fished Bethany Lakes this morning to sample the fishing. Not sure how the cold weather affected the pattern since we last fished.
Decided to flyfish a Bead Head Pheasant Tail Nymph to locate the Bluegill. Tried a number of spots throughout the park, finally locating a school in the Back Pond in about 6' to 8' of water. Sampling of today's catch posted below.
Cold morning with temps starting at 27F Degrees; luckily the Bluegill continued to strike on a slow retrieve.

Slight Delay.

Having a slight delay in posting fishing reports; been tied up with work. Hoping with the upcoming holidays will be able to hit the local ponds and catch Trout.
Was able to take a break from the daily grind and participate in the city of Allen's 5K Rudolph Run. About 1500+ runners participated despite the cold "below freezing" morning.
Good luck and good fishing!
