Limit of 5 Trout.
Early start this morning made for a limit of five Trout at Bethany Lakes. Fish were caught in less than an hour with consistent hits throughout.
Used Bread for bait and also managed to take a Trout flyfishing a Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymph. But, the fish may have struck the fishing fly because it looked like a piece of Bread. Decided not to count it as a fly-caught Trout till I get consistent strikes.
FYI: Fished the Bread using a bobber and setting the depth at 3'-4'. Also, examined the stomach contents. Noted Bread, Corn, and mix of Corn/Bread. No midges found like last year. Plan to keep using bait.

Eight is Enough.
Made it back to Bethany Lakes with a fishing buddy after work. Able to land three more Trout to complete a daily limit - one on a Super Duper, one on Orange Powerbait, and one on Bread. Fishing partner caught a limit of five using Orange Powerbait and Bread.
Two On A Super Duper.
Hit Bethany Lakes just before 8AM this morning. Trout were active on the surface in the Northern section. Caught two Trout on a Super Duper. Attempted to cast fishing flies but was unable to cast where they were "boiling". Left with several more missed hook-ups using the Super Duper. Did observe others taking them on bait.

Foggy Morning!
Quick 30" trip this morning to Bethany Lakes. Caught one Trout on a Super Duper. Tried flyfishing but no takers. Foggy morning!
Tried again at lunch, no luck but did see others taking them on lures and bait. May need to shift tactics and use bait to get my limit.

One On a Super Duper!
Made it to Bethany Lakes after work this evening. Finally caught a Trout on a lure this season - Gold Super Duper fished just before dark. Had another hit well after sunset but no hook-up.
Fish were active in the North section of the pond. Will have to try lures when its light. Also, may be time to try flyfishing gear; fish were frequently feeding on the surface. FYI: The Trout's stomach contents was empty.

Ice on the Pier. No Fish on Ice!
Was able to make a quick trip to Bethany Lakes. Tried Super Dupers and Rooster Tails with no luck. Had gloves this time, so I was able to fish longer. Regardless, zero for the trip. There was ice on the pier, but no fish on ice for me.

Summary of Lures/Baits Used At Bethany for Trout.
Was unable to fish this evening. And, may not be able to fish tomorrow - work, weather, etc.... Decided to summarize postings/observations from the last few days, and then make a run to the store to stock up on lures/bait. Hopefully it helps the hook-up rate on the next outing.
The ">' indicates a post or an observation of the lure/bait being used. Results suggest using the Gold Super Duper (1-1/8") for casting, Orange Powerbait for bait fishing, and the Wooly Bugger for flyfishing. No clear stand-out for Grocery Store baits.
Regardless of the results, the bottom-line: "Go Fishing!"

Bring Gloves and Dress Warm!
Fished Bethany Lakes at Lunch. Tried Gold, Copper, and Silver Super Dupers without a strike. It was cold and kept having to break the ice forming on the rod tip. Bottom-line: Bring gloves and dress warm!

Only One This AM
Back to Bethany Lakes this morning for Trout. More wind but not as cold as the past two days. Caught only one Trout this morning around 7AM. Missed several others but failed to set the hook. Also, casted a Gold Super Duper and had one hit but no hook-up.
Only One This AM.
Saw others catching them on bait and lures, noting one angler caught a Trout near the pier area using a Silver Super Duper. Would have stayed longer but had to leave around 9AM to run errands.
Note: Only used Orange Powerbait this morning; ran out of Chartreuse and was unable to stock up at the local Wal-Mart, Academy, and Dick's Sporting Goods. All were out of Trout PowerBait last night. Luckily, the stomach content of the one Trout was filled with Orange PowerBait.

Another Try For Trout.
Checked out Bethany Lakes this morning hoping for another try for Trout. Windier than yesterday and still cold.
Managed to catch two Trout - one on Corn and the other on Chartreuse Powerbait. Remainder of the morning went slow with several light strikes but no hook-ups until about 9AM. After 9AM, no more nibbles.
Kept at it for another hour without success. Decided to call it a day. FYI: Had hits on both Chartreuse and Orange Powerbait. Observed others catching them with bait and lures. Stomach contents of the two Trout were empty.
PS: Fishermen reported success with Gold Super Dupers in the late afternoon/early evening. Cast far and work the lure on a slow retrieve.
Two Trout.
