4 Bass and 7 Bluegill Easter Morning!

Caught four Bass and seven Bluegill at Stoney Hollow Park in Plano this morning. All were caught using Bead Head Olive Wooley Buggers. Largest Bass went 16" in size. Slow retrieve was the key this morning!

Submitting the 16" Bass to the One Fishing Fly Challenge. Looks like it will take the lead for now! Also, posting it on the COAF Fishing Leader Board as it meets the minimum 15" length for entry!

Two Bass and Two Bluegill This Round!

Just got back from errands around town. One of which included a quick cast or two at Bethany Lakes. Caught two Bluegill and two Bass this round.

One Bass was caught on a Mickey Finn. The other Bass and the two Bluegills were caught on a Bead Head Olive Wooley Bugger. Sending pictures to the One Fishing Fly Challenge. This month's fishing fly is the Wooley Bugger!

Bass went 13" in size. Larger Bluegill went 8" in size. Good to know that the Bluegill are in the shallows and are building their nests!

Two Bass for April Fool's Day @ Bethany Lakes

Two Bass caught yesterday evening.  No Bruisers but had a number of hookups that were lost soon after.  Finally managed to bring these two in.  A little Bass, and then one even smaller.

5 Sunfish, 2 Bass, and a TURTLE?

Fished Bethany again.  Caught 5 Sunfish on a fishing fly bought at Scotty's One Stop Shop.  Not sure what it is called; looks like a little "bug" with a tail made of feathers.  Caught two Bass - one on a Bead Head Olive Wooley Bugger and the other on the "bug".  Then, foul hooked a Turtle.... All were released.

At Least One Trout Still Loose in Bethany Lakes!

Back to Bethany Lakes this evening. Bass were active in the shallows chasing minnows. Caught two on an Olive Wooley Bugger.

Met Texas Fishing Forum's Mr95 fishing for Bass on baitcasting gear. Watched him hook and land a nice Trout on a Shad Rap ... outstanding! Looks like at least one Trout is still lurking in the pond.

One Bluegill at Shawnee Park in Plano

Stopped by Shawnee Park in Plano to checkout the fish activity. Saw a few little Bass and caught one Bluegill on an Olive Wooley Bugger. Bass seemed slow and uninterested. May have caught a few more Bluegill but had to leave shortly after catching the one. Let's see how the action heats up as the weather warms up this week!

No Trout But Did Catch a Few Bluegill... at the Blue River.

Headed North across the border this morning to fish the Blue River in Oklahoma. Was trying to catch Trout; struck out.... Luckily Bluegill, Sunfish, and Perch made for fun practice. Caught and released 20+ as well as one little Bass.

Also, hooked into one decent size Bass that stripped about 20 yards of line before losing it. Did see other Bruisers lurking in the shallows. Used Bead Head Black Wooley Buggers, an Olive Leech Pattern, and an another Olive Fishing Fly that I bought at Scotty's One Stop Shop.

Pictures are fuzzy; used a cheap camera that I use when wading. Good thing, had a slip and got dunking today. Still fun....!

FYI: "Community Lakes Route"

Received a series of pictures from one Field Team Member that shows ponds that he passed while on his running route this morning.  He calls it the Community Lakes Route.  Of interest are the number of ponds along the route. Counted at least 12 ponds, some are sub-division ponds that limit access, others are familiar ponds like Bethany Lakes, and a few are not as well known like Shadow Lakes and several "no name" ponds.

Was wondering why Celebration Park or Auburn Springs were not shown.  He mentioned that the route did not take him there, and it would have made his 8 mile run a 10 or 12 mile run. Don't believe he was ready to go that distance for a few more pictures.

Anyhow, the pictures were sent via email to our partner Facebook Page - "COAF Field Team's" Fishing Log.  Should be posted on the site by now; check it out when you get a chance!

Good luck and good fishing!

Wooley Buggers Continue To Produce At Bethany Lakes

Back to Bethany Lakes this evening. Caught three Bass - two on an Olive Wooley Bugger and one on a Black Wooley Bugger.

Fish were actively feeding in the shallows. Looks like the Spring pattern is setting in; let's see if the weather holds.

Fun stuff, especially with the same number were lost soon after the initial strike/hookset!

Checked out Davis Library and Russell Creek Park Ponds

Checked out two ponds in Plano today to see if the fish activity is heating up.  Pond at Davis Library looked promising; however, did not get a single strike.  Did see the familiar large Koi swimming about.

Went up the road to Russell Creek and also struck out.  Cooler temps compared to yesterday may have slowed the action.  Did see one fisherman at Russell Creek land a Bass, so they are there!
