COAF Field Team's "Places To Fish"

Rain stopped the Team cold for now.  To pass the time, decided to pool our notes together and map out places we have fished in the past. Emphasis is on community lakes and ponds that offer public access, but we did list other locations that we like!  Check it out when you get a chance -  COAF Field Team's "Places To Fish"!

Bethany Creek and Auburn Springs This Evening

Fished Bethany Creek and Auburn Springs this evening.  Caught Bass, Bluegill, and Sunfish. No Bruisers but did lose one that may have gone 15" at Bethany Creek.  All were caught using Foam Rubber Spider Variants in the Grasshopper pattern!

Eleven Catfish On Bread At Bethany Lakes!

Wind calmed down slightly this evening.  Decided to give it a go and try for some Bruiser Catfish at Bethany Lakes.  Did well but only managed one "semi-Bruiser" that went just over 17" in size, else the remainder ranged from 12" to 15" with the majority going ~14"!  Still not a bad outing given a grocery store bait like Bread.

Brutal Wind Conditions Today But Managed To Catch a Few On The Fly This Evening!

Fished Bethany Lakes this evening. Brutal wind conditions with 40mph gusts reported. No worries - caste with the wind behind and playe with the backcast's timing. Result: Four Bass, two Sunfish, and one Bluegill. Largest fish was a Bass that went just over 14"!  Submitting the Bass to May's One Fishing Fly Challenge.

Bread for Bait Worked Again at Bethany Lakes!

Went back to Bethany Lakes this evening for a quick trip.  Bread for bait worked again at Bethany Lakes with three Catfish caught and many more missed strikes.  Missed the Youth Fishing Derby held earlier but lucked out on a deal.... Was on the road today.  While passing through Corsicana stopped by Gander Mountain.  A lot of items on clearance; bought 4 flyfishing lines and a spool of leader for 97 Cents each.  Total cost was $5.25!

Fun Outing Catching Catfish At Bethany This Evening!

Had a fun time fishing for Catfish at Bethany Lakes this evening.  Could not pass up a nice evening of cool temps.... Even better that the Catfish were readily gobbling up our bait - Bread!  Caught and released eight Catfish, ranging from 12" to 14" in size.  Should be a fun time tomorrow for the "Utes" participating in the Fishing Derby!

Back to Bethany Creek with Grasshopper In Hand!

Went back to Bethany Creek for another go at the Bass.  Used Grasshoppers and managed to catch one Tree Fish which broke off, resulting in a lost fishing fly.  And then, caught and released two Bass, two Bluegill, and one Sunfish.  Larger of the two Bass went ~15" in size; larger of the two Bluegill went ~8.25".  Submitted the Bass to the May's One Fishing Fly Challenge, and submitted the Bass and the Bluegill to the COAF Leader Board.

2 Bass On Grasshoppers and 2 Bass on Wooley Buggers At Bethany Creek

Fished Bethany Creek this evening. Caught 2 Bass on Grasshoppers and 2 Bass on Wooley Buggers.  Lost a few Bruisers - hooked but did not land them.  3 of the 4 went about 12" in size; remaining Bass went maybe 10".  Still a good trip, especially with the chance for a Bruiser or two!
