Was able to try a new place that we had not been to before - Whitley Place Park in Prosper. Limited out on Trout using Orange Powerbait. And, caught several Sunfish and a Trout on a Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymph and a Bead Head Prince Nymph, respectively. Fun time, just was not sure about the place as it is located in a subdivision. PS: Finally caught a fish using the new fishing reel!

New Reel... Have Not Caught Anything... Yet!
Ordered a flyfishing reel from Dick's Sporting Goods online. Was able to purchase it at a significant discount as it was on clearance. Even better... since it was ordered online, it qualified for another 30% off the clearance price. Nice looking reel... but have not caught anything as of yet. Hope to break it in over the next few weeks!

One Bluegill On A Cold, Rainy Afternoon.... At Shadow Lakes
Decided to brave the cold and rain to wet a line.... Stopped by Shadow Lakes to fish the ponds using the BH Olive Wooley Bugger and Nymph Trailer. Ended up tangling and losing the rig to a Tree Fish. Tied on a Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymph and drifted it near one of the "waterfalls" where water flows from one pond to another. Had some light strikes which turned out to be Bluegill. Landed one that went about 6" in size!

First Bass for 2011 Reported By The Field Team!
Stopped by Bethany Lakes this evening to fish a Bead Head Olive Wooley Bugger with a Nymph trailer. Liked using this setup on the Blue River. Also liked using it at Waterloo in Denison.
Fished it sloooooowly... and missed a couple of light strikes. Did manage to set the hook and catch one little Bass that went about 13" in size! Fun stuff... the Team's first Bass for 2011!

Summary of Lures/Baits Used During the 2010-2011 Trout Stocking Season (as of 11Jan'11)
Tough go with all the snow and cold temps lately. Getting cabin fever.... Did get a few things done that needed getting done....
Like updating the "Summary of Lures and Baits" used during the 2010-2011 Trout Stocking Season! Good stuff with over 120+ reports received from the Field.
Was able to collate the data and run a rough analysis of the information and like in past seasons, noted that Powerbait, Super Dupers, and Wooley Buggers remain consistent producers for Trout!
For more info, check out our partner website - "Texas Rainbow Trout Fishing: Top 5 Lures and Baits for Community Lakes".
Good luck and good fishing!

Saturday Trout Derby At Waterloo Brings More Limits!
Field Team fished Waterloo Park Pond in Denison today. Arrived while a Trout Derby was in progress. Pond was stocked recently, Friday according to some of the participants. Too late to join the contest but the pond was open to all licensed fishermen.
Field Team limited out with five Trout each. All but two were caught using Chartreuse Powerbait. Of the two Trout, one was caught on a Bead Head Olive Wooley Bugger and the other was caught on a Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymph!

Closing out 2010 with a Trip to Waterloo!
Field Team fished Waterloo Park Pond for one more go for 2010! Action was slower with three Trout caught on Chartreuse Powerbait and one on an Olive Wooley Bugger.
Others were catching them on Super Dupers and Powerbait, but the bite has slowed. Was a fun time regardless of the slower action!
