More Fun at Bethany Lakes with Jigs!

Went back to Bethany this evening for more fishing with Ultralight Gear and Jigs.  Had to restock Roadrunner Jigs and Tube Jigs after losing the last one in the tackle box this morning to a snag.  Good news,... tandem rigged Tube and Roadrunner Jigs continued to produce this evening with more Bass, Panfish and even another Catfish caught and released!

Morning Outing To Bethany Gets More Fish On Ultralight Gear and Jigs!

Fished Bethany Lakes this morning to kick off the Memorial Day Weekend!  Fish cooperated with Bass, Panfish, and a Catfish caught all on Jigs - Tube Jig, Curly Tail Roadrunner, or Marabou Roadrunner.  Had a nice fight with the Catfish hitting the Curly Tail Roadrunner.  Later, lost a Bruiser Bass on the Marabou Roadrunner; hooked him, fought him briefly, and then lost him when the hook came off.  Oh well, better luck next round!

Was a Bust at Brockdale but Bethany Made It Alright!

Took out the Surfcasting Gear and hit the Point at Brockdale Park (Lake Lavon).  Was a bust with no strikes on a Float and Jig Rig!  Changed gears and grabbed the Ultralight and tied on a Tandem Rig - Tube Jig and Roadrunner Jig.  Was able to hook into five Bass and one Catfish!

Ultralight Spinning Gear Continues To Work At Bethany!

Made it back to Bethany Lakes this evening.  Brought the Ultralight Gear and fished a Roadrunner Jig.  Caught Bass, a Bullhead, and a Panfish.  Then, lost the Roadrunner on a breakoff, can't push 4 lbs test too far.  Switched to a Tube Jig and caught a few more Bass!  Water level is up and the algae can be a little bothersome but it looks like the City treated the water as there is a blue tint now.  Fun stuff catching them on an Ultralight!

Ultralight Gear and a Clouser-Roadrunner Jig Setup Seem To Be Working!

Went to Bethany Lakes this afternoon for a quick trip!  Used Ultralight Spinning Gear and a Clouser with a Roadrunner Jig Trailer.  Was able to hook a scrappy Sunfish, a little Bullhead, and a Bass.  All opted for the Roadrunner Jig rather than the Clouser.  Fun stuff!

More Live Music and Fishing at Bethany's Lower Pond!

Made it to Bethany Lakes for more live music courtesy of the City of Allen Parks and Recreation's Summer Series Concerts.  Tonight... it was Salsa music and.... ultralight spinning gear.

Fished the Lower Pond using a Clouser Minnow and a White Marabou Roadrunner Jig.  Wanted to see if a Bruiser would take the Clouser.  No Bruisers tonight, nor strikes on the Clouser.  Did get two Bass, a Sunfish, and Bullhead on the Roadrunner!

Morning Outing At The Village.

Hit one of the catch and release ponds in the Village in Allen.  Had a few really good strikes but no Bruisers landed.  Did catch a few little Bass and several Bruiser Bluegill!  Good stuff... even had a Bass steal a Bluegill while reeling it in to land it!

Morning Outing To Bethany Lakes....

Fished Bethany Lakes this morning and caught the usual suspects... Bass, Bluegill, and Sunfish. Used an Olive Damsel Fly, then  Deer Hair Bug, and closed with a White Foam Rubber Grasshopper Variant. Fun stuff!

Late Start... Only One Bluegill Tonight.

Late start for fishing.  Took the Fly Rod and an Olive Crawdad to Bethany Lakes.  Had a few light strikes but nothing solid.  Finally got a solid hit on a nice Bluegill well after dark.  Tough to get a good picture in the dark with the camera phone.  Managed to take one using light from a street lamp!

Summer Series Concert and Tenkara Fishing Gets More Fish On The Fly!

Made it out to Bethany Lakes for more Tenkara Fishing.  Even had a bonus with music in the background from the Summer Series Concert sponsored by the City Of Allen!  Every Monday from now till June, a free concert is held in the grassy area behind Joe Farmer Recreation Center.

Great time to be had; tonight it was the sound of Sinatra playing in the air.  Good stuff... made even better wth a number of caught and  released fish on the Tenkara Rod.

Noticed the fish seemed to prefer surface flies this round with the Foam Spider, Foam Rubber Grasshopper, and the Deer Hair Bug getting bit!
