Summer Sounds and Fishing at Bethany

Summer Sounds Series has started up again at Bethany.  So, tonight it was Zydeco Music playing in the background, while fishing for Bass, Bluegill, and Sunfish.  Caught several Bass and Bluegill/Sunfish.  Bass were caught a Deer Hair Critter Variant and Purple Grasshopper Variant.  Bluegill and Sunfish went for the Purple Grasshopper Variant and an Elk Hair Caddis!

Two Bass This Round.

Caught two Bass this morning at Bethany.  Used a weightless Senko and cast further from the bank than normal.  Saw a few Bass in the shallows but did get them to bite.  Did see the flyfishing class again, too.  Good to see others taking up fishing on the fly!

Slow Morning, Slow Evening, Windy All Day

Went for a quick trip to Bethany this morning, then returned this evening.  Slow action with a Bluegill and a little Bass caught the morning and Sunfish the evening!  Lotta wind but was able to play the wind to get a little more distance on casting a fishing fly.

Back to Bethany This Round

Back to Bethany this round.  Would have liked to kayak fish again but could not break away from work till later.  So, always can count on Bethany for a quick trip.  Caught a couple of Panfish and several Bass using a White Grasshopper Variant, and then took more on the Foam Diver.  Fun stuff!

Added a Hatch to the Kayak

No fishing today.  Did do fishing related things though.  Been wanting to add a hatch to the Emotion Spitfire Kayak.  Hate having to dry out the wallet and keys and worse possibly losing them in the event of a dunking.

Stopped at Academy and picked up a screw-type hatch for $3.99.  Then, went to Lowes for stainless steel screws and nuts.  Spent $10.00 for the hardware... go figure!

No worries though,... easy installation gets a much wanted storage compartment!

Kayak Fishing the Point at Brockdale Park

Short video clip of a quick trip to Brockdale Park.  Was going for White Bass; managed two undersized ones.  Caught them on a Chartreuse Crappie Jig trolled on a flatline.  Bite was sloowwww.  Will be back again.  Hope the White Bass will be too!

Rainstorm This Evening; Caught Three Bass Afterwards

Heavy rain this evening at Bethany meant a slight rain delay to fish.  Rain let up; managed three Bass this round using a Purple Grasshopper Variant. Even more, overflow was working hard... made the water bubble in the Main Pond!

Kayak Fishing Ticky Creek

Wind let up today.  Decided to fish Lake Lavon with the Kayak.  Put in at Ticky Creek Park and made for the point.  Then, found out that we left the rod and reel at home.  Made do with a handline and a Roadrunner Jig.  Good thing the tackle box stays with the kayak!  Caught several White Bass with one Keeper.  Remainder did not meet the legal length requirement so were let go.

Olive Crawdad Gets a Sunfish, Purple Grasshopper Gets a Bass

Morning trip to Bethany.  Colder temps and cloudy.  No worries, was able to get a Sunfish on an Olive Crawdad.  Then, switched to a Purple Grasshopper and caught Bass.  No Bruisers, still fun, just need to adjust the pattern with the weather change.

Purple Grasshopper Variant This Time,... Less Missed Strikes

Another go at Bethany this evening.  This time grabbed the Three Weight Flyrod and went with the fly that was already on the line - a Purple Foam Grasshopper Variant.  Some rain and overcast skies.  Action was steady with less missed strikes this time.  Caught 7 Bass and 7 Bluegill/Sunfish.  Water level is up from the recent rains; caught most less than 10' from the bank!
