Limited Out at Towne Lake

Quick trip to Mckinney's Towne Lake this round.  Wanted to catch a few Trout before the cold front arrived.  Caught three quickly, then had trouble catching number four and five.  After awhile, did hook and land Trout #4, and then shortly after dark, caught Trout #5!  Fun stuff!

Good Action at Towne Lake this Morning!

Fished the morning bite at Towne Lake in Mckinney.  Went with Powerbait and hooked up with four fairly quickly.  Did miss a number of strikes, too.

Switched to fly fishing gear after catching the fourth Trout; did not get a strike.  So, went back to bait and caught the last one on the first cast.

Fun stuff!

Steady Action for Trout at Towne Lake

Fished the Trout Derby; limited out using Powerbait.  Caught four in less than hour, and then took another hour to get the last one.  Cold temps, so decided to head home and cook them up on an open fire and iron skillet!

Tasty brunch, but not enough to slow us down.  Returned to Town Lake for some catch and release action using Fly Fishing Gear.  Ended up catching more on a Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymph by the bridge.  Fun stuff!

Frustrating Frisco Evening Bite!

Rained for a couple of days but today it let up.  Skies cleared up and temps rose; turned out to be a really nice day.  So, what better than to go for quick trip for more Rainbow Trout.

Fished the evening bite at Frisco Commons Pond.  Was a frustrating trip; had to keep changing fishing flies until we lucked into an Olive Dry Fly Midge in size 18.  Managed to catch one little Bluegill and one Rainbow Trout.  Then, missed several more.

Another fisherman caught a Rainbow Trout using a BH Nymph and then gave it to us to add to our creel... good thing, as more missed strikes after dark on the Dry Fly as well as a Copper John would have made for a one Trout dinner.

Two Trout on a Dry Fly this Round!

Another quick trip after work this evening.  Had less than 40" of light on arrival; luckily the Trout were actively feeding on something on the water's surface.  Had trouble yesterday getting them on a Dry Fly.  This time managed to catch two using a Griffith's Gnat and lost another two while bringing them in!  Fun stuff!

Frisco Bite Was Good This Evening

Made a quick trip to Frisco Commons Ponds for the evening bite.  Trout were rising and schools were feeding on insects landing on the water.  Caught two before it got dark using the Guadalupana,  Switched to Dry Flies and could not get a strike.  Went back to the Guadalupana and caught one more... Fun Stuff!

One More Go at Waterloo....

Fished Waterloo Park Pond today.  The pond received its last Trout Stocking for the Season last weekend, decided to check on the Trout action before the weather warms.  Good decision, Zeke and Fshng84 managed a limit each.  Zeke opted for Powerbait; Fshng84 opted for the Guadalupana.

Fun stuff! No Bruisers like we saw on the Blue River yesterday but it was still a fun time! Even did some catch and release fishing and got a chance at some roll casting practice; liked how the wind helped make the roll cast look easy!

Later on, ran to Frisco and braved the windy conditions to try some catch and release fishing.  Things started slow but the action picked up as it got dark, caught and released four and lost several more while bringing them in.  All went for the Guadalupana as well!

Nice Day On The Blue River!

Made a run across the border into Oklahoma for fun with Rainbow Trout on the Blue River.  The Trout Derby was in full swing when we arrived and a number of Bruisers were being caught!

For us, we only managed three Trout using Powerbait between two fishermen. Largest went about 14".

Took some video of today's trip, including a 9lbs Bruiser one fishermen had caught that morning!  It was in the ice chest already; regardless, it was a big one!

Gotta love the Trout Derby when they stock the River with some Bruisers!

PS: Great to meet one of our Readers while on the River; hope you and your daughter managed to get a Trout or two.  It was a tough day fishing; the bite was slow for a lot of us!
