Nineteen Bass with Senkos This Round!
Fished Bethany Lakes this evening. Opted for Ultralight Gear and Senkos. Had a fun time; Bass were biting! Fished till just after sunset and managed to catch nineteen Bass. Largest went 14" in length. No Bruisers but had a great time! No action shots; just clips of the fish!

Tail Mount of a Spanish Mackerel
When we fished the Galveston Fishing Pier the other day, we caught our first Spanish Mackerel. We wanted to try something different to capture the moment other than taking a picture, so we decided on trying a Tail Mount! After a little research on the Internet, got an understanding of how to make one. We liked it better than a picture; not bad for a bunch of "non-pros"!

Back to Bethany this Round!
Had a lot of fun fishing Galveston this past weekend; would like to go back for another round. Till then, it's back to Bethany this round! Fished with the Five Weight Fly Rod and used a Lefty Deceiver and a Grasshopper to catch a few fish. Today's total - five Bass and two Bluegill!

Fished Galveston This Round!
Decided to make a road trip to the coast Saturday. Noticed a couple of fishing piers in Galveston that looked promising. Opted for the Galveston Fishing Pier (also known as the 91st Street Pier).
Fished for about 10 hours and caught a number of fish. Of note were several small Sharks, Gafftop, a big Stingray (but lost the pics and video), and a Spanish Mackerel!
Caught the Sharks using Squid, the Gafftop using Squid as well as cut bait, and the Stingray using Squid.
Other fish were caught using Shrimp. None were Bruisers but we did have several breakoffs that we suspect were Bruisers!

Out and About This Round
Was out and about this evening, trying for an action shot close up of fish taking a fishing fly. Was a tough go; managed to catch Bluegill and Bass but had a hard time getting a close up. No worries,... still ha fun catching them!

A Big Koi and a Missed Strike!
Stopped by Bethany in hopes of an action shot of a Bass taking a Hula Popper. No luck. Did get some video of a big Koi and a missed strike. The strike was light as if it really did not want to take the lure. Oh well, better luck next round!

Bethany Creek, then Bethany Lakes This Round
Checked out Bethany Creek; caught two Bass using a Lefty Deceiver. No Bruisers but did see a couple of nice looking ones lurking in the area!
Then, went down the road to the Back Pond at Bethany Lakes. Noticed the area nearest the Feeder Creek was covered with algae. Went on to the deeper end, and worked a Foam Spider. Caught three Bluegill and two more Bass!
Fun stuff!

60 Fish This Round at Russell Creek!
Back to Russell Creek in Plano for more fishing. Wanted to see how many fish could be caught before we had to leave.
Brought the Four Weight Fly Rod and made a slight variation to the Grasshopper Fishing Fly. Used a size 12 Caddis Hook this time; seemed to get more hookups.
Also, used a Dry Fly, Lefty Deceiver, Damsel Flies, and a Griffith's Gnat. Ended up catching and releasing 60 fish.
Two were Bass; they were small ones but did see some nice ones lurking in the area! Just did not want to strike.
No action shots this time; just video of the fish. Sped the video to show all 60 fish. Also, have some footage of two snakes mating (possibly).

Russell Creek Park Pond
Decided to try another pond in Plano for this evening's round. Stopped at Russell Creek Park and fished the pond located there. Managed to catch a number of Bluegill and Sunfish using the White Grasshopper Variant. Lost count but would say more than 20 were caught and released. Was surprised that no Bass struck the fishing fly. Fun stuff!

Bethany and then Oak Point!
Started the day with a trip to Bethany Lakes. Used the Bait Casting Rod and Senkos. Managed to catch seven Bass before calling it quits. Largest measured 17" in length!
Then, for a change of scenery, went to Oak Point Nature Preserve in Plano around 11AM. Fished with a Fly Rod and used a Lefty Deceiver. Caught a Bass (slightly smaller than the 17" Bass at Bethany) and two Crappie.
Like Bethany, had more misses than catches but still had a fun time. Been awhile since we last fished Oak Point. Just like before, it still has a lot of vegetation along its bank and saw a number of water snakes. Even got some video of one snake that "sneaked" away.
