Fish Bulletin Board

Checkout our new partner site.... It's the Fish Bulletin Board.  We tried to salvage pictures but only managed a handful.  No worries, we will look to the future to post new pictures!

Since we had to retire the Fishing Leader Board at the direction of our web host due to low content and quality, the new Fish Bulletin Board includes fishing suggestions and recommendations fro our Team.

Do check them out when you get a chance!

Quick Trip to the Comal

Was on the road today.  Decided to give the Comal River in New Braunfels a try. Really hot day.  Could see fish lurking in the holes in the river.  Saw Bluegill, Sunfish, Tilapia, and Bass. Managed to catch four Bluegill/Sunfish; could not get the Bass to bite.  Even the Bruisers lurking in the area!

20 More Fish on the Fly at Bethany!

Went with the fly rod again and headed to Bethany this evening.  Was a tough go with all the algae; much different than yesterday!  Did manage to catch 20 fish this round; caught them on a Grasshopper, Dry Fly, and a Globug.  No Bruisers; still a lot of fun!  No action shots, just pictures of fish. PS: Met TFF's Future Biologist; was great meeting!  Only if the algae was not so bad....

20 Bluegill/Sunfish and 5 Bass Yesterday...

Went with a Fly Rod yesterday when we fished Bethany Lakes.  Question came up on the Texas Fishing Forum about fly fishing at Bethany.  Overall, we tend to get more strikes when fly fishing; yesterday's outing seemed the case compared to the Senkos we used on Monday. Caught 20 Bluegill and Sunfish and 5 Bass.  The Bluegill and Sunfish tended to be small... not as big as we saw earlier when they were on their beds at least in the Back Pond.  No Bruiser Bass either but they did put up a nice fight on a Four Weight; even got a few action shots!

Three Bass This Round

Fished Bethany this evening.  Ran out of the 4" Senkos in Watermelon and Red/Black Flake. Was not able to get the 4" Senkos; only found the 5" Senkos.  Fished it using Bass Casting Gear instead of an Ultralight.  Missed the first Bass; lost it while landing it.  Kept at it and managed three Bass this round!

More Tail Mounts

Finished the Tail Mounts for NucLaroche's Jack Crevalle and Ladyfish that he caught surf fishing of the beach in Port A a couple weeks ago!  Gotta like "capturing those moments"!

Homemade Green LED Fishing Light Field Test

Last night we made a run to Bethany Lakes to test our Homemade Green LED Fishing Light. Things started out shaky when the Float Rig failed.  We needed to weight it down since the light was too buoyant to sink.  No worries though... with duct tape and decoy weights we were able to sink the light.  The light stayed water tight and shown brightly; was able to attract a few bait fish in the short time we were there!  Video quality is poor but good enough to see a few bait fish darting in/out of the lighted area!

Steady Action on Senkos This Morning

Went with Senkos and an Ultralight this morning at Bethany.  Caught eight Bass; no Bruisers but was still fun.  Used a reel and stop retrieve but noticed most hit the Senko while reeling in.

Sunfish and Bluegill on the Fly this Round

Fished Bethany this morning with a Fly Rod.  Caught a number of Sunfish and Bluegill using a Crappie Jig Variant, a Guadalupana, and a Dry Fly.  Most went for the Dry Fly; caught 25+ fish but none were Bruisers.  Even caught a little fingerling Bass.  Fun stuff!

Homemade Green LED Fishing Light

Been out of pocket lately; not able to fish as much as we normally do.  Rain has also moved in today, so it will be hit or miss if we get to our favorite pond today.

That said, have been tinkering around with a homemade Green LED Fishing Light we made. Really liked the fish attracting ability of the fishing lights we saw while on the Coast.  Decided to make one that was portable and could be set under a float.

Here is our prototype.  Waiting for the glue to dry.  Once dry, gonna have to "test" it!

Fun stuff!
