Headed up the road to Lake Texoma. Launched our kayaks at Highpoint Marina. Caught a few small Stripers and Smallmouths; lost a few as well. Also, caught a large Gaspergou, too! All went for Rat-L-Traps (or a knock-off of a Rat-L-Trap we picked up from Academy). Windy at times and lots of boat traffic; still had some steady action. Need to come back sooner than later as we did lose several decent Stripers that threw the hook!

Already missing the coast... did make it to the local pond for a quick trip. Slow action with a little Bluegill and Sunfish caught, and then missed strikes and spooked a fish. PS: Learned today that any color jug line float other than orange is legal for Texas recreational fishermen starting September 1, 2014! Here is the TPWD Link.

On the road this past weekend. Fished Galveston, Texas at the 61st Street Fishing Pier! Had a great time with nice weather and lots of action on Gafftop, Sand Trout, Whiting... and small Sharks. Met some great folks - other fishermen and the Pier Staff! Even saw part of reality TV show "Little People" being filmed!

Been a tough go trying to wet a line during the week lately. Was able to make it out this evening. Checked out Kroger Park; heard others doing well on Bass at the pond. Did not hook up with any Bruisers but still had a fun time catching little Bass on a Four Weight Fly Rod. Caught one Bass on a Foam Rubber Grasshopper, and then the remainder went for the COAF Guadalupana that we tie. Did see some decent Bass chasing bait fish near the banks; none wanted our fishing flies though. No worries, still caught a few... and even better, still beats working!

Here is an article that is not about fishing but may be of use to some of our Readers. Check it out when you get a chance.... It's about finding "Low Maintenance Stocks" that are good investments for the long term!

Fished Lake Lavon Saturday morning and caught six Keepers. Largest went 4 pounds; caught them using Shad on Jug Lines! Really nice morning with lower than normal temperatures for this time of year. Had to move around a little to find Shad for bait, but did find a spot that provided more than enough for this round. Enjoying the nice weather, and the laid back style of fishing! Did re-rig the Jug Lines with new line, same ones we posted in an article about Jug Line Fishing. This time, tried stopper knots above and below the drop lines. Seemed to have more hook ups this time!

Fished Lake Lavon at Ticky Creek this morning. Bite was steady with 15 Keepers; largest went 19" in size. Most went for Shad that we caught by the boat ramp. Did catch a couple of Gaspergou; used one for cut bait. Ended catching several on cut bait also! Fun stuff with most caught in 11'-12' of water with hooks set 1' and 2' from the bottom.

Fished Bethany Lakes this evening. Slow action but still beats working. Had a few missed strikes on Bass, and then started hooking up with little Sunfish and Bluegill. Caught them using various fishing flies. Did feel the temps drop when a front arrived. Luckily, the rain held until later this evening. Fun stuff!

Today's Broadcast for your reference. We re-capped this past weekend's activities - specifically, jug line fishing at Lake Lavon's Ticky Creek Park. We do apologize for the last few minutes of the show... we were disconnected briefly. Do check it out when you get a chance!

Used the kayak this round to put out jug lines. Managed to catch two Catfish and hooked but lost a nice Gar. Oh well, better luck next time. Let the Catfish go. One was just over 12" but wanted to hold out for larger ones. The other Catfish went about 18" but it too skinny for its head and length. Looked like an old injury to its bottom jaw although healed may have been the cause.
