Answering the mail with questions asking about the Blue River in Oklahoma and the section I fished north of Hughes Crossing. Area is referred to as Area 2 and also called the Wilderness.

Blue River Oklahoma Fishing | First Trout Limit for 2023-2024 Season!

Updates for the day

First trip to the Blue River in Oklahoma for the 2022-2023 Trout Season. Able to limit out with three Rainbow Trout. Also, caught and released a few others as well as caught a Bass aka Green Trout!

Caught the first trout using a Tandem Rig Olive Near Deere and Squirmy Worm variation. Remainder went for a Mop Fly! Did get hits on other fishing flies but it was the Mop Fly that did this round!

My Mojo Fishing Combo? Rio Euro Nymph Shorty and Orvis Clearwater Rod #fishing #flyfishing #fun

Updates for the day

First try at Euro Nymphing.

Fished an Orvis Clearwater 10ft 3wt Fly Rod and Orvis Hydros SL1 Reel lined with a 3wt Double Taper Fly Line.

Added the Rio Euro Nymph Shorty and Euro Leader with 6lbs mono tippet and tied on a tandem rig midge and near deere.

Originally had a Squirmy Worm but sank to slow. Olive Near Deere worked much better.

Spent more time finding a location with moving water, then fishing but it was worth the wait!

Caught a nice Bass lurking near the drainage culvert at the local pond. Culvert had a slight current that was enough to try Euro Nymphing.
