Fun with Spreadsheets | Texas Parks and Wildlife Winter Trout Stocking Schedule for 2023-2024

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) kicked off the trout stocking season last week! And, like in past seasons, yours truly modified the schedule to sort by Stocking Date, calculated the count of trout stockings planned for a location, and estimated trout to be stocked for each stocking.

Makes for ease of reference by allowing Readers to quickly see when the next trout stocking is planned. As changes are unexpected for various reasons like weather, do check for updates, changes, and corrections at TPWD’s website – 2023-2024 TPWD Trout Stocking Schedule.

YES, There Are Trout at Turner Falls Park

First time fishing the Blue Hole section at Turner Falls Park!

Had a great time fishing for Trout at Turner Falls Park. Two of us fished, two of us limited out. 

Barbless hooks required, got to keep a tight line. Switched from an OPST Commando Head to a Euro Nymph Shorty and Leader because the trout were lurking deep.

Answering the mail with questions asking about the Blue River in Oklahoma and the section I fished north of Hughes Crossing. Area is referred to as Area 2 and also called the Wilderness. 

I talked about the places I stopped - specifically, the barrels. I also added the slides at the end so you can pause the video and zoom in the image.

Blue River Oklahoma Fishing | First Trout Limit for 2023-2024 Season!

Updates for the day

First trip to the Blue River in Oklahoma for the 2022-2023 Trout Season. Able to limit out with three Rainbow Trout. Also, caught and released a few others as well as caught a Bass aka Green Trout!

Caught the first trout using a Tandem Rig Olive Near Deere and Squirmy Worm variation. Remainder went for a Mop Fly! Did get hits on other fishing flies but it was the Mop Fly that did this round!
