7 Bass and a Sunfish

Fished Bethany Lakes this evening for more fun with the Bass. Caught seven small Bass and a Sunfish using the Olive Wooley Bugger, again. Have to admit that the Wooley Bugger has been a a consistent producer of fish this season. Click-on COAF Fishing Leader Board to checkout top fish caught this year by our readers.

70 Small White Bass

Fished Brockdale Park at Lake Lavon this morning. Action started slow but picked up once the schools came in. Left the point while they were still biting, catching and releasing 70 small White Bass. Used surfcasting gear and jigs with the Yellow Crappie Jig getting the most action. No keepers but still fun! Click-on COAF Fishing Leader Board to checkout top fish caught this year by our readers.

Can't help it, had to checkout the White Bass again at Brockdale Park this morning. Action started slow but picked up when they started schooling on the point. 40+ Small but Fun to Catch White Bass

Fished Brockdale Park this morning for another go at the White Bass. Fish were in shallows off the point; used Surfcasting gear and Cork and Jig Rigs like yesterday. Jig used was a Yellow Crappie Jig. Intent was to try out a fishing rod and reel combo made up of a collapsible fishing rod bought in Japan 15 years ago and a Ambassadeur 5000 reel bought over 20 years ago. Combo worked well with over 40+ White Bass caught and released! Small fish but still fun to catch. Click-on COAF Fishing Leader Board to checkout top fish caught this year by our readers.

Small White Bass, But Lots of Action!

Stopped by Brockdale Park this evening for a go at the White Bass. Fish were schooling off the point despite the low water level. Caught and released 20+ small White Bass. Only one was a keeper that went about 10.5" in size. Used Surfcasting gear and Cork and Jig Rigs. Same set-up we use when fishing Denison Dam's tailrace. Jigs used were a Wildeye Shad, Yellow Crappie Jigs, and White Crappie Jigs. Fun stuff regardless of their small size! Two Catfish. Four Bullheads.

Fished the East Pond at Celebration Park this evening. Caught 2 Catfish and 4 Bullheads using Bread. Not bad but no Bruisers. Did try out a syringe to make Bread Discs. Worked great; bait stayed on the hook and made for easier casting. Click-on COAF Fishing Leader Board to checkout top fish caught this year by our readers.

Two Bass on a Wooley Bugger, Two Bass on a Foam Rubber Spider Variant

Caught four Bass at Bethany Lakes this morning. Two were caught on an Olive Wooley Bugger in the Main Pond. One of which was a little fingerling. The other two were caught in the Upper Pond using a White Foam Rubber Spider Variant. Saw a number of Bass in the shallows. Mainly small ones but there was one nice sized one actively feeding; just was not interested in a fishing fly!

Tailrace Action Remains Steady.

Back to Denison Dam this morning. More small Stripers but did manage two that went about 16". All were caught on Shad. Another fun but hot and tiring day! FYI: Game Warden checked our cooler as we were leaving. We were good but heard others did not fare so well. Fishermen beware and follow the regulations. Morning Bite at Denison Dam - One 20.5"

Fished the morning bite a Denison Dam this morning. Mostly small Stripers to keep things interesting but did manage to land one that went 20.5". All were caught on Shad. We did see others fishing live Perch racking up some nice stringers of 18"+ Stripers. Stuck it out till the early afternoon and managed to catch a few on Cork and Jig Rigs using 3" Wildeyes for the jig. Fun but hot and tiring day!
