Denison Today
Fished Denison Dam today. Hot temps and slow action were the case this trip. Managed to catch a few Catfish and several little Stripers. Interesting to have the Stripers go for Chicken Livers! Later in the afternoon, the power plant started generating, really clouded the water with the lake "turning over" - water was cloudy, green, and smelled like sulfur. Still had fun catching them!

Fishing at Ticky Creek, Again!
Fished Ticky Creek again. Brought Jug Lines and an Ultralight Rod and Reel. Was hoping for Catfish, ended up catching and releasing a little Largemouth Bass and three White Bass. Only one White Bass was caught on a Jug Line; remainder were all caught casting a Roadrunner Jig.

Field Team's Kayak Jug Line Setup
Raining today with some thunder and lightning thrown in. Decided to update our "Jug Line Fishing" article with illustrations of our Kayak Jug Line Setup. We like it because its scaled down version provides some flexibility in the limited space of our kayaks, and we also like the ability to position the Float and Hooks as conditions warrant.
Check out the article and do give our setup a try. If it works or you make modifications, or you get a Bruiser, send us comments!

One Little Catfish on a Jug Line....
Took the jug lines to Ticky Creek this evening. Went with Chicken Liver for bait and free-floating jug lines; no anchors this time.
Slow go though. Caught one little Catfish on a jug line and two small White Bass trolling a Roadrunner on a handline. Decided to get some exercise and do some trolling while waiting for the fish to bite.
Lotta fun, even better to see another fisherman's stringer of three Bruiser Catfish using jug lines (largest one can be seen in the video clip)! Good to see they do work.

Caught Three This Round at Celebration!
Went back to Celebration Park for more Catfish fishing using Bread for bait. Used a syringe to pack the bread into compact, bait sized pieces to put on the hook. Managed to catch and release three Catfish - two were Bruisers that went 18" and 23" in size! Fun stuff... Bubble Float seems to be working!

One Bruiser at Celebration!
Tested out a bait recipe for our Trot Line at Celebration Park's East Pond. Need to work on it a little more. Did manage to catch a Bruiser that went 24" in length using Bread for bait! Fun stuff!

Ivory Soap Catfish Bait?
Wanting for a bait that was both easy to rig on a hook and economical, brewed a batch of Ivory Soap Catfish Bait! Has a mix of this and that and for under $5.00 have enough to bait up 50 plus hooks! The question now is will the Catfish like it? Will have to try some field testing before we make a ruling on this recipe!

More Than One This Round
Set two Trot Lines out last night. Had only caught one Catfish last round. This time caught five Catfish - three we kept for Dinner and two that we released because they were too small. Used Shrimp and Chicken Livers for bait. The Shrimp seemed to work better than the Chicken Livers. Better to have gone with Shad for bait but had a tough time catching them in our cast net. After picking up the Trot Lines, did a little Jug Lining; had a hit or two but no hookups. Oh well, have enough fillets for Dinner. Courtesy of the largest of the three Catfish we caught; measured 22" in length!

Only One This Round...
Set out a Trot Line this afternoon. Checked it after soaking for 2 hours. Caught only one Catfish. Let it go as it was small. Re-baited the hooks, and then set out another Trot Line. Hoping for a Bruiser when we check them again!

Fished Bethany this evening. Been a tough go Jug Lining these past few days. Going to try it again possibly this weekend. For now, enjoyed catching a few scrappy Bluegill and Sunfish on the Tenkara Rod!

Jug Lining at Brockdale Park
Went to Brockdale Park this evening and set out Jug Lines. Let them soak for about 2 hours; had a few light hits but no hookups. Used Chicken Liver that tended not to stay on the hook. Although a bust, was still fun taking the kayak out and "fishing".... Sure beats working!

Jug Lining a Bust....
Went jug lining at the local lake. Used the Kayak instead of the Jon Boat. Things started out well but the wind kicked up and a rain storm hit, so had to call it quits early. Better luck next round!
More Little Bluegill!
More little Bluegill caught using the Tenkara Rod. Little feeder creek with clear water and very shallow, made for some fun action using an Unweighted Antron Nymph!

Bluegills at Kroger Park, Again!
Braved the heat of the day and went fishing for Bluegill at Kroger Park. Lotta fun catching them. Did lose several Bass, so it's all Bluegill footage with one nice sized one to end the video clip!

Catching Bait Fish with a Minnow Trap.
Dug out the old Minnow Trap from the garage in hopes of catching bait for jug lining. Caught a few, soaking the trap for about 30". Looks like we will need to let it go longer next round!

Yesterday's Catch for Dinner Tonight!
No fishing tonight. But, cooked up yesterday's catch for dinner tonight. Went with the Beer Batter Fish Fry recipe we liked (came from Kayak Angler Magazine) and, since we did not limit out, cooked up some Sausage as well! Yum, yum, yum!

Back to Denison Dam Tailrace, Again!
Fished Denison Dam today. Brought some shade and started early. Stayed till the power plant began generating, then headed home. Other than a short rain shower, sun was out in force. Shade made a difference in being able to fish longer. Too bad we did not get any Bruisers but did have steady action on Stripers, even caught and released a Gaspergou, an undersized Flathead Catfish, and a little Bluecat. Fun stuff!

Slower Action This Round.
Went back to Bethany this evening. Slower action than yesterday. May be the heat affecting the bite... no worries. Still had a lot of fun!
