Cold temps this morning slowed things down a little. Went with Senkos and Ultralight Gear and went to... you guessed it... Bethany Lakes for another round. After missing several strikes, was able to hook a Bass. Then missed more strikes before catching a second Bass. Then, spied the big Koi that lurks in the area; got some video. Then, went back to fishing. Was able to get one more Bass this round!

Checked out the action at Denison Dam today. Was slow on the Oklahoma side, managed one bite but no hook up. Then, checked out the water discharge area on the Oklahoma side. Could see some big fish lurking in the area but none were willing to bite. Went across the Dam to check out the action at the Texas Wall. Not much happening, so was ready to call the day a bust... except stopped at Bethany Lakes on the way home and caught one Bluegill!

Cold front dropped temps and changed the pattern. But, things started warming up a little. Tried the Lefty Deceiver and had a few hits but nothing solid. Switched to a White Damsel Fly and fished it slow. Managed to catch a Bass, and then a White Bass! White Bass went 14.5" in length and put up a nice fight. Then, noticed fish feeding on the surface. Switched to a Dry Fly and caught Bluegill, Shellcracker, and a Bass! One Shellcracker went 8" in length. Fun stuff!

Decided to give Bethany another try this evening before the cold front arrived. Nasty weather forecasted; looked like the Bass were active despite the windy conditions. Lefty Deceiver was working catching several Bass, but ended up losing the Deceivers to snags. Switched to a White Damsel Fly and caught a Bass, then lost it to another snag. Then, switched to a Purple Damsel Fly until a Bass really tore it up. Finally caught two more Bass using a Brown Damsel Fly.

Another day at Bethany for a quick trip. Brought the five weight fly rod and a different fishing fly - a Lefty Deceiver. Had used this one in the past for Striped Bass way back when. Decided to try it on Bass. Been seeing a number of Bass chasing smaller fish away when they come near them. So, made the Lefty Deceiver in Size 2 and about 3.5" long to simulate a smaller fish to aggravate the Bass. Looks like it worked, catching seven Bass in about 40" of fishing... fun stuff!

Made it for another round at Bethany this evening. Caught three Bass. One went for a Dry Fly. The other two went for the Bouncer Damsel Fly. Did lose a White Damsel Fly to a nice Bass though.

Short video clip of a quick trip to Bethany for Lunch. Caught two Bass and a Sunfish. Did see a few Bruisers lurking near the pier! Fun stuff.... used a Bouncer Damsel Fly.

Fished Bethany this evening and caught nine Bass. Made a slight change to the Damsel Fly. Added a weighted keel using the "Bouncer" technique. Using a mono-filament and beads to make a keel, the Damsel Fly's hook rides higher than one without the keel. We think it provides for better hook sets! Seemed like it worked except we did lose it to a nice Bass. Will have to make another one!

Fished Bethany today. Really nice day despite the windy conditions. Saw a Snake, caught 16 Bass using the White Damsel Fly, and saw some Trout being caught! Not a bad day in April; sure beats work!

Was out fishing again at Bethany today. While working the different ponds, stopped by the pier and noticed a few nice looking Trout being caught! Nice surprise seeing Rainbow Trout still lurking in the pond!

Decided on the Four Weight Fly Rod this evening at Bethany. Had a later start but the bite was on. Managed to catch 18 Bass that went for a White Damsel Fly. Faster retrieve was working this time. Missed a lot more than we hooked. Was lotta fun made even better by a nice day!
PS: Better view of the Beaver we saw yesterday - calling it the "Bethany Beaver"!

Checked out one pond and had several hits but no hook ups. After an hour headed home; on the way stopped at Bethany and hooked up with Bass. Senkos keep working! Did see a Beaver hanging out in the Horseshoe Pond. Got some video but was too far to get a good view.

Bite was steady at Bethany this evening. Caught Bass on Senkos and an Ultralight, again. Going to stick to this pattern for now! No action shots this time; just video of fish.

Checked out Bethany Lakes this morning and caught twelve Bass - ten on Senkos and two on Hand-Poured Worms. Had run out of Senkos, so switched to Hand-Poured Worms. Afterwards, stopped at Cabelas and picked up more Senkos and a spool of Spiderwire to replace the monofilament on the Ultralight. Decided to "test" the Spiderwire; fished Bethany Lakes again in the evening and caught two more Bass! Much more sensitive than the monofilament and had less missed hook strikes. Total for the day was fourteen Bass but did miss a good number of others. Two largest Bass went 17" and 16.5" in length!

Only had a little time this morning to fish due to other commitments. So, we headed to Bethany for a quick trip. Was glad it was a really nice day; was glad the Bass were biting, too! Caught four Bass using Senkos and one using a Crankbait. One of the Bass had a fishing fly in it's upper jaw - a Guadalupana! Fun stuff!

Was not sure how the Bass would be doing after the recent cold front. Temps were in the 40s this evening. Luckily the Bass did not mind. Caught and released 10 Bass but missed a lot more strikes. Fun stuff using Senkos and Ultralight Gear!
