Another Round at Bethany with the Fly Rod!

Went with the fly rod Saturday morning.  Fished the main pond with a Lefty Deceiver and caught four Bass.  Lost the Deceiver to a "Tree Fish"; switched to a Foam Rubber Spider Variant after no luck with a Wooley Bugger.  Caught several more Bass. Fun stuff especially liking the top water action!

Fly Rod This Round!

Brought the five weight fly rod this evening to Bethany.  Used a Guadalupana to get a couple of Sunfish and a Bluegill.  Tried a Foam Grasshopper Variant and had a couple of strikes but missed the hook set.  Switched to a Lefty Deceiver and caught several Bass and a Sunfish! Also, saw one fisherman catch and release a nice looking Catfish caught using bread for bait. Nice Catfish!

A Stick, a Line, and a Fly at Celebration This Round!

Simple fishing this evening catching little Bluegill and Sunfish on a Tenkara Rod.  Used a Tenkara Fly until we lost it to a snag. Switched to a Guadalupana without a break in the action... Fun Stuff!

Six Bass This Afternoon

Too nice a day not to go fishing.  Headed to Bethany this afternoon and caught six Bass - two using 4" Yamasenkos and four using 3" Yamasenkos!  Missed others but who is counting... fun day with cool temps!

Missed One; Caught Two Before the Front Arrived!

Winds were picking up and temps were dropping this morning.  Decided to get a quick trip at Bethany before it rained. Used Senkos and Baitcasting Gear, missing one strike before hooking up with a couple of Bass.  Called the outing short as the rain started.  Fun stuff... gotta love them Senkos!

Steady Action This Evening

Cool front to arrive tomorrow evening we think.  Decided to try another round at Bethany. Steady action this evening.  Caught several Bass; used Senkos on a weightless Texas-Rig. Fun stuff!

Another round at Bethany.  Got some action shots this time.  Did not edit the video as much in order to give viewers an idea how we are fishing the Senkos and Hand Poured Worms. Longer than normal video; still lots of fun catching them!

First Day of October Starts Out Well at Bethany.... Nine Bass This Round!

Fished Bethany this evening.  Went with Baitcasting Gear and Senkos.  Caught several Bass as well as missed a few more.  Action was steady; not a bad outing to mark the first day of October!  No Bruisers but still a lot of fun, catching and releasing nine Bass.  Largest went about 14" in size.  Been having to modify the Senkos by cutting them down an inch.  Ran out of 4" Senkos; only had the 5" ones.  Seem to get more hits on the smaller size Senkos, so it's "pinch and inch" to get more strikes!

Another Round at Bethany; Gets a Nice Catfish....

Another round at Bethany using Senkos.  Gotta surprise catching a 22" Catfish in the Canal! Another Catfish makes the Fishing Bulletin Board! Then, it was steady action catching Bass. Bass were either striking on the initial drop or taking the Senko on a slow drag along the bottom.  Caught six Bass this round. Fun stuff!

Pattern Change... Senkos

Started out fishing inline spinners; had a couple of strikes but did not hook up.  Switched to a Senko and worked it slowly; got a few more strikes and misses before finally hooking up.  Two Bass this morning!

Inline Spinner Does Well, then Bread Gets a Catfish!

Fished Bethany this morning before the rain arrived.  Caught Bass and a Sunfish using inline spinners.  No Bruisers but was good to see the Bass were active.  Then, noticed something feeding on the surface on Bread.  Switched to Bread and freelined it.  Ended up catching a 20" Catfish! This one makes the Fishing Bulletin Board. Fun stuff!

Crankbait This Round

Went with a Crankbait this round.  Caught one Bass and missed another, else it was slow go. Better to stick with Inline Spinners right now to mimic the baitfish the Bass are feeding on. Still a fun time, especially with the cooler temps!

Inline Spinner Did Well This Round

Checked out previous blog posts for September and noticed Inline Spinners and Spinnerbaits seemed to work well for the month.  Decided on using an Inline Spinner this round; caught six Bass, one Sunfish, and one Catfish.  The Catfish went 16" in length!  This one gets posted on the Fishing Bulletin Board.  Fun stuff... posted a video but for some reason could not keep track of the number of Bass caught.  Rechecked the videos; it's six Bass.

Bite Still On at Bethany

Another round at Bethany; bite was still on.  Caught Bass and Sunfish using a Clouser Minnow and a Foam Rubber Spider Variant.  No Bruisers but action was steady.

More Fun on the Fly at Bethany Lakes

Decided to give Bethany Lakes a try this morning.  With the recent rains, water level is up!  Took a Four Weight Fly Rod and Streamer Variants and worked the Main Pond, Lower Pond, and the Canal.  Struck out in the Lower Pond.  Did get three Bass in the Main Pond.  And, hooked a nice Catfish in the Canal that put a good strain on the Fly Rod.  But, it threw the hook so was not able to get a good picture of it.  Luckily, was able to get video before losing it!  Fun stuff!

Fishing on the Fly at Celebration

Checked out the North Pond at Celebration Park yesterday.  Noticed a lot of fish activity the day before, so decided to try a Streamer and a Dry Fly.  Caught a few Sunfish and Bluegill on the Streamer; caught more on the Dry Fly!  Lost count but would say 30+ were caught and released.  No Bruisers but still a lot of fun!

Fly Fished Bethany This Round

Fished Bethany this evening using Fly Fishing Gear and a Streamer Variant.  Caught several Bass, little Sunfish, and a Bluegill.  Water level is low.  Also, found out that Lake Lavon has only one public boat ramp open - Little Ridge Park.  Looks like kayak fishing and trot lining are on hold for now.  Hope rain comes soon!

Crappie Jigs This Round

Went to Bethany this morning.  Started out with a Crappie Jig and Trout Magnet on a tandem rig.  Noticed the fish were going for the Crappie Jig, so switched to just a Crappie Jig.  Caught several using a steady retrieve, then noticed the Bass were chasing bait fish in the shallows; started going with a fast retrieve and caught more.  Later noticed the Bass were going for the bait fish balling up along a deeper section of the Main Pond, so started dropping the jig where the bait fish were balling up and caught a few more Bass.  Lots of fun. No Bruisers but still a great time!

Lake Lavon Water is Low....

Bad news... the 2013-2014 Duck Season is on hold for the Field Team.  Lake Lavon water level is low; our favorite access points are no longer open nor hold water.  Will need to wait and hope for more rain!

Rainy Morning... Bite Was Steady!

Rained this morning; was a good thing.  Noticed the Back Pond's water level has risen; other ponds are still low though.  Caught mainly Sunfish and Bluegill; did get some Bass as well.  All on Trout Magnets and an Ultralight. Fun stuff!
