Received an update from the Team... limited out at Waterloo!
Two went for the GRHEN on a Tandem Rig Near Deere and GRHEN.
Remainder went for PowerBait.
Overall, it looked like a number of fishermen limited out. Bait seemed to outdo lures. No worries, Good thing our fishing buddy figured out the pattern this round and had PowerBait ready to go!
After several temp fixes to broken braille lines to the cast net, finally took the time to replace them all. Hot day but got it done! Took slightly longer… added an extra braille line on the fly when I noticed a portion of the net was drooping lower than the others!
PS: One change to the fix for the next net. I would attach the new braille lines next to the old ones, and then cut the old braille lines. No measuring needed!
2015 starts off with cold temperatures and freezing rain which has the Team indoors and staying warm. Hope the freezing rain delay does not last too long.
Trout were liking inline spinners - specifically, Rooster Tails. Local Trout Derby was winding down but the trout were getting active. Rooster Tails as well as Power Worms were favored lures and baits.
Yours truly opted for Bait Finesse Systems style fishing casting a 1/16oz Rooster Tail to trout lurking mid-pond.
Fun times!
Trip Information
Date: 2-19-2022
Time: 1030-1230
Location: Towne Lake, McKinney, TX
Key Take Aways:
Trout Derby was in progress; noted some were catching trout. Slow compared to past years.
PowerWorms, PowerBait, Corn, and some action on lures. Not able to see specific lures.
Calm, with Temps in the 30s in the AM but warmed to 50's by Noon.
Slow action in the small pond; looks shallower with more silt
Larger pond had some action that later picked up in the day.
Murky water, visibility less than a foot.
Fire Tail Rooster Tail fished on a steady but slow retrieve worked!
Field Team reported a limit of Trout caught at Waterloo Park Pond in Denison. One member struck out but did get a couple of strikes. Overall, cold temps slowed the action down but did pick up as the day warmed.
Key notes this round:
Catfish were striking PowerBait
BH GRHEN fished 2′-3′ under an indicator were getting strikes in the morning (overcast and cold)
As the sun came out, bite turned off for the BH GRHEN
Heard from others that Near Deere were getting bit later in the day
Video clip below shows the action on the BH GRHEN:
Another report from Bethany Lakes. This one included a video and an onsite Podcast. Zeke, who brought his dog but no fishing pole tagged along and stretched his legs while watching the action.
Here are key notes from today:
Game Warden checked fishing licenses this morning, be sure your license is up to date
Black Super Duper was the go to lure; tried gold, silver, and copper... one hit on the silver
Bubble Fly Rigs with a Black Nymph were getting strikes
PowerWorms under a Bobber were getting strikes as well
In keeping with the rollout of our Bait Finesse Systems Fishing Journal, the following is the Fishing Trip Report for last Sunday – Super Bowl Sunday, to the Warren Sports Complex. Plan was to catch a trout or two, but as it turned out only one for trip. At least, it was not a strikeout!
PS: Added footage to the video on a follow-up trip on Valentine’s Day to catch Bass on Senkos BFS Style!
Trip Information
Date: 2-13-2022
Time: 0930-1230
Location: Warren Sports Complex, Frisco, TX
Key Take Aways:
Trout were stocked Thursday, and then the Annual Trick A Trout Derby was held Saturday.
Temps dropped 30 degrees on Sunday compared to Sunday.
Trout action was mainly on the Northeast end and the West side. Action seemed best near “waterflow” areas.
Windy, NW at 10+ mph
Gold Super Duper worked for one individual; long casts and steady retrieve.
Fire Tail Rooster Tail worked for one trout; slow retrieve.
Alrighty, the Bait Finesse Systems Fishing Journal is live on Amazon. I put an order; it delivers tomorrow. I will post a video on how we use it to improve our fishing success.
Provides an easy to use format to capture fishing information such as date, time, and location but with a Bait Finesse Systems Fishing twist to improve catch rates.
Luckily, the format readily applies to other fishing techniques! Do check it out!
Quick update on the Team's activities. This round we have a couple of items on recent happenings...
COAF Field Team Store - our Amazon store is up and running providing a collection of fishing items we have used and highly recommend to others. It include videos, pictures, product review videos.
COAF Field Team Amazon Author Central Page - our Amazon Kindle page that provides Fishing Log Books, Journals, and more that we are publishing. It also includes photos, videos, and fishing as well as non-fishing blog posts and articles of interest!
Fishing updates and related activities from the Team! Do check back as we post YouTube Shorts, Videos, and Live Streams while we are out and about.
This round we fished Warren Sports Complex for the Trout Stocking in Frisco. Past years the tout were stocked at the Frisco Commons pond. This year and maybe going forward, the Warren Sports Complex was stocked.
The annual Trick A Trout Derby was held yesterday, but it sounds like the trout were stocked during the week instead of early Saturday morning.
The bite was slow with some limits observed; we suspect the change in temps - dropped 30 degrees from yesterday, had something to do with the slow down in the action.
Moreover, it is a big pond; more like a lake. Seemed like the trout were deep or lurking near the waterflow along the North bank - the one with the concrete retaining wall.
Second of a three box subscription that yours truly received as a Christmas Gift. Decided on the Panfish and Trout option because we have had good luck with the light weight lures that target panfish and trout…. and more important, can be used for Bait Finesse System aka ultralight baitcasting.
This round had five lures of which the Slim John Spoon at 1/12oz and Crappie Jigs at 1/16oz should work well with the BFS Combos we have!
Do check back; hope to catch a fish or two with them!
