Here is the follow-on catch and cook video to our "Kayak Fishing for Whatever Bites" video! Simple recipe that calls for Garlic Salt and Black Pepper! Do give it a try!
Headed to the local lake for kayak fishing Saturday morning. Heat Advisory in effect, so we were not sure if the fish would be biting.
Plan was to either bottom bounce a slab and jig rig or troll it for whatever bites. Else, would get a workout in paddling to and from the boat ramp.
Managed two White Bass - one on a yellow Slab and one on a Crappie Jig. Also, had a little Channel Catfish strike a Crappie Jig bottom bounced.
Not sure how we plan to cook the two White Bass, but will post a video. Do check back!
Took the Jon Boat out last weekend. Suzuki 2.5hp Outboard is working well on the 12ft Jon Boat. Plus, the PVC tool continues to make life easier when securing the clamp on seats to the boat, and the DIY side numbers are holding much better than the store bought ones! Overall, Charlie the Maltese Doggy approves! πΆπΆπΆπ
First time kayak fishing Canyon Lake. Water was crystal clear and weather was sunny and hot. Only caught two litle fish but did get a good workout in!
Did see some Baby Buzzards feeding on a dead carp. May have been a sign to try fishing another time.
LOL!
Quick tie fly tying demo of Wapsi's Foam Spider Kit. Easy pattern, tied in minutes, and fished soon after tying it. Caught four fish, lost what could have been number five... also, lost the fishing fly. Luckily, tied another one after the trip!
Was a fun time on Coast fishing the Rockport area. Did have a slight dry spell when yours truly's fishing mojo was off. Try this to fix it; kinda worked.
Fun trip to the coast! Was hoping for more crabs but did manage two Blue Crab. No worries, was enough for a catch and cook video of Blue Crab Cakes! Tasty, posted recipe at end of video. Do try it!
Back to the local pond for more BFS Fishing! Shimano Scorpion 17 BFS XG and the Bass Pro Shops Microlite Fiberglass Rod!
Two back to back trips to the local pond using the little 2wt Cabelas Fiberglass CGR Fly Rod. Works well with the 2/3 Wt Echo Ion Fly Reel.
More fun at the local pond bait finesse style fishing with the KastKing Zephyr and Haira Tiny 33F Crankbait!
Fished the local pond the other day using the little 2wt Cabelas Fiberglass CGR Fly Rod. Paired well with the 2/3 Wt Echo Ion Fly Reel. I am fishing a Caddis Foam Grasshopper and working the pond by casting to spawning Bluegill on their nests. Polarized glasses make a difference in finding them.

Cool little lure from the Mystery Tackle Box works for Bluegill, too! Haira Tiny 3F
Follow up video of an earlier post about fish caught at Lake Glenn. Previously, showed one Bass caught that round. This video shows the fish caught that day!
Bait Finesse System fishing with a KastKing Zephyr without the reel clicker. I am casting a Teeny Crankbait from the Mystery Tackle Box! Caught several but this was the largest caught that round - estimating 16-17 inches.
Foam Grasshopper Variant that uses 2mm closed cell foam cut with a foam cutter to make a caddis body. Calling it the Caddis Foam Grasshopper. Worked well on Bluegill and Bass!
Plan was to fish the local pond using Bait Finesse Gear and ultralight lures. Switched to a Fly Fishing when my inline spinner kept fouling on the algae.
Started out with a Damsel Fly and had several strikes but no hook ups. Went to a Guadalupana in a smaller size hook compared to the Damsel Fly. Did better!
Worked mainly the areas near the bank as the water level in the pond was high from recent rains. Did work a more open area in the back pond to see what was cruising the area.
Caught most of the fish on a fast, short pull retrieve. Did get one Bass to take the Damsel Fly worked in its bed but as luck would have it, camera battery ran out.
Fun times fly fishing with nine Bluegill and four Bass caught and released!
Now if only the wind would calm down and we could get back to kayak fishing!
Good luck and good fishing!
