Fishing the local tailrace is fun when scrappy White Bass aka Sandies want to play!
Yours Truly working a streamers at Denison Dam for whatever is biting.
As it turned out, the Trout wanted Dry Flies. Additionally, Trout were wanting PowerBait but needed to make sure the bait stayed above the bottom greenery plus add movement to the presentation.
Did manage two Trout that went for a Crackleback!
Had fun fly fishing for little Stripers at the local dam. Denison Dam serves as the tailrace to Lake Texoma. When generating power the Stripers show and lots of action can be had for both fly fishermen and surf casters!
But, don't forget to fish when the current is slack. You may be surprised how many fish lurk in the area.

Suggestion from a viewer, squirmy tail, nymph body... tied a variant that uses the same yarn as the Blue River Producer for the body, then added Grizzly Hackle. Gonna see if trout like it!

Was using an OPST Commando Head on a 10ft 3wt!

Great combo Berkeley Lightning Rod and Penn Pursuit Reel. Able to cast ultralight lures for stocker trout easily!
Try this simple build for making a handline. Be sure to clear it with your quilting Significant Other who may want the spools of thread that is used for this build.

Try this challenge and up your practical flycasting skills! The intent is to place your fishing fly within two feet of a target aka fish that is forty feet away while holding the fly in your hand and within 4 seconds!
Answering the mail on the retrieve I used when fishing Denison Dam, tailrace to Texoma! I was using a fast retrieve with short pulls of the fly line, setting the hook when I felt resistance. At the end of the retrieve, I would keep the fly moving by sweeping my rod from left to right. Often getting strikes while sweeping the rod.
Always bring a paddle when boating! Thought some Readers can relate to this.

I have been following Hank Patterson for several years. And he always comes up with hilarious skits.
This one in particular books a little fun at the nympher. In this case, fly fishing with nymphs and the tendency to spend more time. Mending your line is it actually casting and fishing.
