Ramblings About Fishing - Let's Talk Fishing - Episode 17
This round we talk about more fishing things - specifically, fishing for trout on the Lower Illinois River in Oklahoma, Kayak Fishing, and some recent demos we posted on Amazon and re-broadcasted on YouTube!
I first started kayak fishing using rod holders that were built in the kayak. They were mounted flush to the stern and sat behind me. They worked well for trolling but I had to keep turning back to check if I had a strike.
I remedied this by attaching a bell to my rods. When a fish was on the line, I could clearly hear the bell ring. This worked but I wanted to see the strike as soon as the fish struck my lure.
Additionally, I like to fly fish from my kayak and required a rod holder that would securely hold the rod at the reel seat.
Luckily, I found out the Railblaza Rod Holder II offered me a solution. Do give them a try!

Your choice to buy Clouser Minnows or tie one. Preference for yours truly is to tie Clouser Minnows. I can change hook size, adjust colors, and I can resupply my fly box without a trip to the store or wait for a delivery. Give this pattern a try! Here is a quick tie video to demo how I tie it.
