Fishing Not Catching!

Frustrating day but still had fun fishing instead of working. Fished Bethany Lakes and tried various fishing flies until a pattern was found.

Been having trouble figuring out what fishing dry fly to use for the rising trout. After several rounds, settled on the COAF Griffith's Gnat. Had tried a Black Midge Dry Fly and had "nudges" but no hook ups yesterday and today.

After changing fishing flies several times, tied on the COAF Griffith's Gnat and started getting strikes. Ended up only catching one but did hook five others that came off when trying to lift the Trout out of the water.

May need to tie a few more and try fishing it again to confirm it's no fluke!

Struck Out at Bethany Lakes Today

Struck out today but did get one to strike on a Gold Super Duper. Saw others doing well using Super Dupers sight casting to feeding fish. Also, saw one fisherman take one on a Bubble Fly Rig.

Sent a report in to StockerTroutFishing.com... looks like they already posted the report... "Super Dupers and Bubble Fly Rigs at Bethany Lakes"!

Fast Web Admin... also like the info about River Park in Fort Worth... "Trinity River Trout Stockings at River Park"! Have seen some nice sized Trout caught from River Park.

From the Field Team... Saturday.

Made it to Bethany Saturday morning. Was able to get one on a Wooley Bugger. Others were doing well with Super Dupers, Bubble Fly Rig, and Mini-Jigs. PowerBait was working, too.

Called it a trip for the morning to take care of Honey Do's but later, got a call from NucLarcohe to fish Warerloo. Fished Waterloo and two of us limited out!

Fun day, sent report to our Partners at StockerTroutFishing.com... should see more details later today.

PS: Report is posted on; here is the link - December 20, 2014 report. Like how they added the Bubble Fly Rig information and the Trout Derbies at Waterloo... Great job Web Admin!

Partner Website - "Stocker Trout Fishing"...

The Team started a new website titled - "Stocker Trout Fishing".  Here is a snippet of the first post welcoming Readers. Do give it a read when you get a chance!

Welcome Readers!
WRITTEN BY: TRTFSHNG84 - DEC• 17•14
Welcome Readers to Stocker Trout Fishing – a website started in partnership with the COAF Field Team!  The COAF Field Team (aka Field Team) is a group of avid fishermen located in the city of Allen, Texas.

They kicked off their effort by starting the City Of Allen Fishing Weblog to document online fishing trips to area community lakes and ponds. The fishing trips later expanded to other lakes (including larger lakes), rivers in Oklahoma and Texas, and the Texas Gulf Coast.

For this effort, the Field Team intends to collate information about fishing for stocked Rainbow Trout – specifically, in North Texas with emphasis on local ponds stocked in Collin County.

In addition, the Field Team will include fishing reports for trips across the border to Oklahoma’s Blue River, Lower Mountain Fork River, and Honey Creek (in Turner Falls Park) as well as fishing trips to the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels, Texas.

Moreover, the Field Team plans to post information found online that may be useful to Readers interested in fishing for stocked Rainbow Trout!

Waterloo This Round

Fished Waterloo Park Pond in Denison this morning. It rained off and on while we were there but luckily it was not a downpour. Was able to get a round of fishing in without rain gear.

Caught and released a number of Trout using an Olive Near Deere. Did run out of them; switched to a Wooley Bugger and a also a COAF Guadalupana with a strike or two but no hook ups.

Did limit out with five; luckily was able to get the last two Trout to take a Tandem Rig Olive Wooley Bugger and a GRHEN. Both times the Trout went of the GRHEN.

Did miss not having a Near Deere; will tie more later! Overall, was a great day fishing!

Central Park Pond This Round

On the road today. Stopped in College Station for a quick stop. Took the 4 weight fly rod out and started casting for Trout.

Struck out but did see others hook up while there. Water was murky and although the pond was stocked Friday, talked with others who noted that the bite was slow.

Fished for about an hour without a strike. Did see one Trout caught but was not able to get video. Then, prior to leaving, saw another Trout caught. Was able to get some video of it.

Till next time!
