Morning Outing At The Village.

Hit one of the catch and release ponds in the Village in Allen.  Had a few really good strikes but no Bruisers landed.  Did catch a few little Bass and several Bruiser Bluegill!  Good stuff... even had a Bass steal a Bluegill while reeling it in to land it!

Morning Outing To Bethany Lakes....

Fished Bethany Lakes this morning and caught the usual suspects... Bass, Bluegill, and Sunfish. Used an Olive Damsel Fly, then  Deer Hair Bug, and closed with a White Foam Rubber Grasshopper Variant. Fun stuff!

Late Start... Only One Bluegill Tonight.

Late start for fishing.  Took the Fly Rod and an Olive Crawdad to Bethany Lakes.  Had a few light strikes but nothing solid.  Finally got a solid hit on a nice Bluegill well after dark.  Tough to get a good picture in the dark with the camera phone.  Managed to take one using light from a street lamp!

Summer Series Concert and Tenkara Fishing Gets More Fish On The Fly!

Made it out to Bethany Lakes for more Tenkara Fishing.  Even had a bonus with music in the background from the Summer Series Concert sponsored by the City Of Allen!  Every Monday from now till June, a free concert is held in the grassy area behind Joe Farmer Recreation Center.

Great time to be had; tonight it was the sound of Sinatra playing in the air.  Good stuff... made even better wth a number of caught and  released fish on the Tenkara Rod.

Noticed the fish seemed to prefer surface flies this round with the Foam Spider, Foam Rubber Grasshopper, and the Deer Hair Bug getting bit!

Cold Temps This Morning Has Slowed The Bite....

Cold temps this morning slowed the bite.  But, things should pick up as the temps warm up - hopefully soon.  Checked out Bethany this morning; noticed the fish were largely inactive.  No bites in the usual places; save for a few scrappy Sunfish hiding in the Canal and under the Bridge!

A Little Tenkara Fishing Before Dinner

A quick trip to Bethany Lakes before dinner for some Tenkara Fishing.  Fished the Lower Pond by the Waterfall and caught Bluegill and Sunfish.  No Bruisers but still a lot of fun knowing it doesn't take much gear to catch fish - a fly, a line, and a rod!

Damsel Flies Continue to Produce At Bethany!

Slideshow of fish we caught today at our favorite local pond - Bethany Lakes. Big surprise today was Crappie caught in the Lower Pond!

Used the Tenkara Rod and fished Damsel Flies and Foam Spiders and Grasshoppers with the "go to" fishing fly being the Damsel Fly in either Olive or Purple!

Purple Damsel Fly, Foam Rubber Spider, and the Tenkara Rod,... Great Combo!

Been tough to breakaway from work these last few weeks.  Luckily, was able to flex the Tenkara Rod this evening and catch (and release) a fair amount of fish... Bluegill, Sunfish, Shellcrackers, and Bass!  Went with the Purple Damsel Fly, then the Foam Rubber Spider.  And, fished with the Tenkara Rod only.  Keeping it simple so as to focus on fishing rather than the gear!
