Catfish for Dinner....

Made a batch of Beer Batter Fish Fry the we like it.  Made a few changes here and there from the original recipe to include the Tartar Sauce.  Made for a filling meal...and a great Dinner last night!

Caught a Few Fish on the Fly Including a Bruiser

Fished Bethany again this evening.  Went with the 3-Wt Flyrod and a Bully Spider. Caught a few fish - Sunfish, Bluegill, Bass, and a decent Bruiser Catfish.  Estimated 20"+ in size.  Surprised it went for the fishing fly!

Only One Today at Bethany Lakes

Fished Bethany this evening; had not fished it in a while.  Hot temps and falling water levels made things tough.  Managed one Bass.  Decided to add a few snippets of fish caught since we last fished the pond.  We do like fishing!

Checked the Trot Line....

Checked the trot line we set.  Caught four Catfish.  Two were small and were released; two were decent sized and were filleted!  Measured 19" in size.  Baited with Shrimp and Hot Dogs; looked like the fish preferred the Shrimp.  Also, noticed some new additions to the fence where some "Bruisers" were posted. Looks like someone has been getting some big ones!

Set a Trot Line....

Set a trot line at Brockdale with our fishing buddy Ginia Beach.  Baitedwith Shrimp and Hot Dogs for a "bait buffet" that we hope the Catfish can't resist.  Will see when we check it later!  More to come.

Only Two Today....

Fished Ticky Creek again.  Put out jug lines and baited with Chicken Livers.  Seemed like a good idea but then we had to call it quits early when the wind picked up.  Did catch and release two fish - a White Bass and a Largemouth Bass.  Both were little... scrappy but little fighters!

Only One This Time

Went to Brockdale Park this evening.  Windy conditions made for some tough paddling.  Did manage to catch one White Bass.  Other than that, got a decent workout this round paddling the  kayak!

Denison Today

Fished Denison Dam today.  Hot temps and slow action were the case this trip.  Managed to catch a few Catfish and several little Stripers.  Interesting to have the Stripers go for Chicken Livers!  Later in the afternoon, the power plant started generating, really clouded the water with the lake "turning over" - water was cloudy, green, and smelled like sulfur.  Still had fun catching them!

Fishing at Ticky Creek, Again!

Fished Ticky Creek again.  Brought Jug Lines and an Ultralight Rod and Reel.  Was hoping for Catfish, ended up catching and releasing a little Largemouth Bass and three White Bass.  Only one White Bass was caught on a Jug Line; remainder were all caught casting a Roadrunner Jig.

Field Team's Kayak Jug Line Setup

Raining today with some thunder and lightning thrown in.  Decided to update our "Jug Line Fishing" article with illustrations of our Kayak Jug Line Setup.  We like it because its scaled down version provides some flexibility in the limited space of our kayaks, and we also like the ability to position the Float and Hooks as conditions warrant.

Check out the article and do give our setup a try.  If it works or you make modifications, or you get a Bruiser, send us comments!
