Cool Live Cameras at the Galveston Fishing Piers+

Love the Galveston Fishing Pier for those trips to the Texas Coast for saltwater fishing! Located at 91st Street and Seawall Drive, they have a live camera feed that is perfect for checking on the action on the Pier.

Moreover, just a few blocks north of the Galveston Fishing Pier is the 61st Street Fishing Pier. They also have a live camera feed that is great for checking what is biting!

For more information about fishing in Galveston, check out our online article, "Fishing in Galveston"!

Not in the mood for fishing, try going north along the Seawall to the Pleasure Pier located past the 61st Fishing Pier!

Don't forget about the Texas City Dike on your way to Galveston Island!

Another GoPro Livestream But.... Struck Out. Great Ultralight Baitcasting Practice at Least!

Another GoPro Livestream. This one shows that fishing is not catching.... struck out but did get some great casting practice with the KastKing Zephyr BFS with reel clicker and BPS MicroLite Rod.

I started out fishing the Main Pond and worked my way around to the drainage culvert, then moved to the Back Pond. Although no bites, I did note several Bass beds near the banks.

I continued to work the Back Pond and then the Main Pond's North side. No hits either.

I did notice the rod and reel combo casted much better when spooled with 4lbs mono compared to 8lbs mono. Easier to cast and more distance, too.

I also limited the line amount, spooling it with 66 turns of the handle. This makes for a lighter spool that spins faster than a fully spooled reel.

Subsequenly, the KastKing tends to cast better with less line!

FYI - Real Time Release For Denison Dam

Here is our most popular post the CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.com.

It details how to read the release schedule when the Power Authority is generating power that will increase the waterflow at the Denison Dam tailrace.

It's a popular Striped Bass fishing spot for the Team! Do check it out when you get the chance!

However, we updated the information and created a document for ease of reference.  Go to Method Of Procedure (MOP) Determining the Real Time Release for Denison Dam!

Fishing Hacks Popular Post "No Welded Loop in Your Fly Line... Try These Methods! [+ Tippet Rings]"

Here is a popular post from our Fishing Hacks blog that others have found helpful. It details several ways to attach a leader to a fly line.

It also discusses the use of tippet rings - a small metal ring that is ties to your leader. The ring allows fishermen a ready means to attach a tippet as well as swap out a tippet as conditions dictate!

Do check it out!

Last Bass Yesterday

Bass #6 from yesterday... actually, it was Friday afternoon, March 3, 2023. On a whim, I decided to fish the local pond for a go at Bass. I had struck out earlier at another pond - Murphy pond that was stocked with trout.

I observed Bass in the shallows setting up spawning beds, so I figured the local pond - Bethany Lakes, may have Bass doing the same.

I did see several Bass beds but did not target them. I opted to blind cast and do a quick impromptu GoPro Mobile Livestream.

As it turned out, I caught six Bass... five were in the livestream video, number six was not. Below, is the the video of Bass #6.

Caruth Park Trout Fishing - Streaming Live from my #GoPro

Fun time limiting out on trout. Able to post an impromptu livestream at Caruth Park!

It includes all the mistakes and missed strikes while recording live. It took about an hour of fishing using fishing flies and other lures before I found what worked.

Ultralight Baitcasting a 1/16oz Rooster Tail - black with silver blade, fished on a slow retrieve was the go to method.

Although I limited out, I should have finished sooner but I kept losing trout while landing them. No worries, great excuse to keep fishing!

Met a Fly Fishing Legend!

Made it to the Texas Fly Fishing and Brew Festival! Glad I did. Learned a lot, saw some new products, and even met a Fly Fishing Legend - Tom Rosenbauer! Been a fan for many years!

In a brief conversation, I recalled a book he wrote that provided great info for me over the years. After a quick look, I found the book, "Reading Trout Streams".

How About Fishing Murphy City Pond?

Let's talk fishing, Murphy gets stocked and a trout derby tomorrow. How about videos from past trips.

This round I detail what I did in the past when fishing for trout at the small pond in Murphy. It is located next to Murphy City Hall and offers some great trout and bass fishing as well as some nice size Catfish.

Limited Out After Finding The Pattern - Rooster Tails #fishing #baitfinesse #trout

Fished Towne Lake in McKinney after the Trout Derby. Was a slow start but things picked up later that day. Managed a limit of trout; all on Rooster Tails.

Key lesson learned this round was to fish the smaller pond near the bridge. This year they did not partition the trout area into sections. Instead, they setup nets only to the main part of the lake.

As a result, the trout tended to the small pond which tends to be deeper.

Lots of folks limited out to include yours truly!
