February 22, 2009 - 4 Rainbows and a "Gold" Trout!
Continued success at McKinney's Towne Lake with another limit of Trout - 4 Rainbows and 1 "Gold" Trout.
All were caught using Orange Powerbait but did get strikes on Corn, Bread, and a Gold Super Duper. Checked stomach contents. All had Corn, two had Orange Power Bait, and one had Bread.
Observed others taking limits with Powerbait and lures - Gold Super Dupers, Silver Super Dupers, and Spinners. Also, noted several people flyfishing but could not tell if they were successful.

February 21, 2009 - Trout Derby @ Towne Lake Update.
Fishing buddy and I participated in the Trout Derby at McKinney's Towne Lake. Large crowd with tight quarters did not hold us back. Able to limit out on Trout.
Fished the bottom using Corn. Able to land one, switched to Bread without a strike, changed bait to Orange Powerbait. Success - remainder were caught on Powerbait. Used the Carolina-Rigged Corn set-up described in our other webpage.
Check of stomach contents showed empty stomachs for all but two Trout. Of the two, one had Corn and the other had Orange Powerbait.
Fun time with a lot of action. Even saw a nice looking Bass caught!

February 16, 2009 - Work and No Play Today, But...
All work and no play today. But, am looking forward to more Trout fishing this weekend. Towne Lake in McKinney will receive a Trout Stocking on Sunday, 22 February!
For those who can breakaway from work during the week, try Community Park Pond in Rowlett or Frisco Commons. Both have received Trout Stockings on 6 and 15 February, respectively. Be prepared and bring various baits - Corn, Bread, and Cheese and then Trout Powerbait in Chartreuse and/or Orange.

Rowlett Trout Update.
Slow bite at Rowlett today but fishing buddy and I did catch several Trout. Details posted on our Weblog. Not sure if we will be able to fish again this weekend. But, we will be out and about again next weekend. Most likely in Mckinney at Towne Lake. Trout stocking is scheduled for 22 February!
February 14, 2009 - "3+2=5" At Rowlett.
Had a late start this morning but made it to the Community Park Pond in Rowlett for more Trout Fishing. Slower bite than last weekend. Caught three; fishing buddy caught two. Total of 5 Trout for the day. Largest went slightly over 12".
All were caught using Corn fished on the bottom. Hits were 10 to 20 yards from shore. Check of stomach contents showed bits of Corn and/or Chartruese Powerbait.
Today's Catch: "3+2=5".

February 14, 2009 - Getting Ready.
Getting ready to head out for more Trout Fishing. Will report back on how we do; just need to bundle up as it is cold. Had to work this morning but did find out about a website that lets you create a "radio station" using music genres that you pick. Here is one we created to test it out - radio station.

February 8, 2009 - Rowlett Trout Stocking - Update
After missing a few turns along the way, was able to find Community Park (Pond A) in the city of Rowlett. Fishing buddy and I limited out using Corn. Observed a number of others taking limits with Corn and Powerbait. Will post more details on our weblog.

February 8, 2009 - Two Limits at Rowlett.
Fished Community Park Pond in Rowlett this morning. Fishing buddy and I limited out on Trout using Corn for bait. Fished deep and used a Carolina-Rigged Corn set-up to fish the bottom.

Observed a number of others taking limits and noted a steady bite throughout the morning. A check of stomach contents revealed mainly empty stomachs. Two Trout did have Powerbait in Pink. But, would not limit colors to only Pink; heard from others that Chartreuse and Orange were working as well.
Trout ranged in size from 9" to 12" with one larger one hooked but lost at landing. Noted others taking an occasional 12"+ sized Trout.
Community Park, Rowlett.

Bethany Ridge Park Pond - 2 Bluegill On The Fly!
With the warm temps today, decided to wet a line and flyfish Bethany Ridge Park Pond. Went to a favored spot where Bluegill and Sunfish like to hide.
A lot of short strikes from the small guys. But did manage to set the hook on two Bluegill. Used a Bead Head Nymph and let it sink slowly.

February 4, 2009 - On The Run.
Stayed on the run despite a cold morning. Route went by Celebration Park, past Auburn Springs Ponds (misstated as Autumn Springs in yesterday's post), along Exchange Parkway, and several Elementary Schools.
No activity noted at Auburn Springs, but am still keeping it in mind for the Spring. Keep hearing about some Bass being taken.

February 3, 2009 - On the Road with an MP3.
Back out on the road again with a 5 mile run that took us by several Sub-Divisions, Celebration Park, and Autumn Springs Ponds. Steady pace and an MP3 made for a comfortable workout. Although the temps were warmer than the other day, observed minimal surface activity by the ponds at Celebration and Autumn Springs.
Been loading songs from the She and Him CD onto an MP3 player. Zooey Deschanel, actress with a voice in the movie "Elf", does a great job singing, especially when accompanied by an acoustic guitar only. Also, added a few "Old 97's" songs at key intervals; faster tempo of their songs makes for a faster running pace.

February 2, 2009 - Out and About
Moderate paced run this morning around Celebration Park made for a good start this week. Cold morning but bearable with warm gear and the promise of a warmer afternoon. Route went by the East Pond. Stopped for a picture and to enjoy the sunrise.

February 1, 2009 - No Running, More Fishing, Superbowl.
Out and about early this morning. No running today - time to rest and recover from the aches and pains.
Running shoes and treadmill workouts have helped reduce the aches; will see what the next week's weather brings. If not too cold, will opt for an outdoor workout.
Trout fishing has been good at Waterloo Park Pond in Denison. Fishing buddy and I limited out yesterday and this morning. The Park's pond received a Trout stocking last weekend; seems the fish have settled in and are actively feeding. Posted more info on our weblog.
Have a few errands to run today, else will be watching the Superbowl; mainly for the commercials. Hoped to see the Cowboys this year but the Season did not go well. Maybe next year!
Stay Active, and Good Luck and Good Fishing!
Another Trip to Waterloo.
Another trip to Waterloo Park Pond in Denison this morning. Fishing buddy and I lucked out with limits of 5 Trout each using a Carolina Rigged Corn set-up again. Largest went about 11" in size. Tried flyfishing briefly when we noticed a lot of surface activity. Did not get any strikes, so we went back to bait.
Checked stomach contents; most were empty but a few had remnants of Powerbait it Chartreuse and Pink. Yesterday's catch had mostly Corn with some Powerbait Nuggets in Chartreuse and Orange. Opted to stay with Corn, cheaper and still getting limits and/or consistent strikes.
