Fishing from a Kayak: Slow Start, but Managed to Catch Fifteen Keepers!

Managed to Catch 15 Fish on this Trip! Check out the action!

Last weekend, I decided to go kayak fishing at Lake Lavon in Texas. I launched from the Lavonia Boat Ramp and began the day with a peaceful paddle on the calm lake surface.

Initially, the fish were elusive, playfully nibbling but not fully committing. However, as the sun rose higher, my luck improved. The first catch, a lively Yellow Bass, gave me a thrilling fight. This trend continued with more small Yellow and White Bass.

By mid-morning, I discovered the fish hiding deep near the lake bottom. Using Slab and Jig Rigs for trolling, and then Bottom Bouncing them, proved to be effective. Additionally, casting towards passing fish schools yielded a catch or two.

In the end, I had caught a total of 15 fish - 14 White Bass and 1 Crappie. However, I lost track of the number of undersized fish that were caught and released!

Unleash Your Ultralight Fishing Passion by Creating Custom Inline Spinners for BFS Fishing!

Custom Inline Spinners for BFS Fishing.

With a few essential tools and materials, you can craft inline spinners that perfectly suit your fishing style and target species. Start by selecting the right wire, beads, and blades. The choice of blade is crucial as it determines the spinner's action in the water. Willow blades provide a tight, fast vibration, while Colorado blades offer a slower, more pronounced thump.

Next, thread your components onto the wire shaft in the order that ensures maximum attraction to the fish. Begin with a clevis to hold the blade, followed by a series of brightly colored beads to catch the fish's eye. You can also add a small brass or tungsten weight to help the spinner sink to the desired depth quickly.

Once you have your spinner assembled, use a pair of pliers to form a secure loop at the end of the wire, ensuring that all components stay in place. Consider tying a feathered treble hook to the end for added movement and visual appeal.

Experiment with different color combinations, blade sizes, and weights to find what works best in your local waters. By customizing your inline spinners, you'll not only increase your chances of landing more fish but also add a personal touch to your fishing gear, making every catch even more rewarding. Happy fishing!

Success Tip: Use Ultralight Lures to Entice Wary Bass to Strike!!

Smaller May Be Better!

Whether you're fishing in clear waters or heavily pressured lakes, ultralight lures can make all the difference.

These small, subtle baits mimic the natural prey that bass are accustomed to, making them more likely to bite even when they are feeling cautious.

Additionally, ultralight lures can be fished with finesse techniques, such as slow retrieves or gentle twitches, to further entice reluctant bass.

Pair your ultralight lure with a light line and a sensitive rod to detect even the slightest nibble.

Remember, patience and precision are key when targeting wary bass. Happy fishing!

What's The Deal With Gloves And Laundry Pins For Kayak Fishing? 🎣🤷‍♂️ #kayakfishing #fishing #tips

Gloves and Laundry Pins for Kayak Fishing: What's the Purpose?

Gloves serve to shield you from potential fish fin injuries and minimize blisters during paddling. On the other hand, laundry pins can double as useful stringer clips to prevent losing a fish that might wriggle free.

Additionally, gloves provide a better grip on wet surfaces, ensuring you maintain control of your paddle and fishing gear. They also offer protection from harsh sun exposure, reducing the risk of sunburn on your hands during long hours on the water.

Laundry pins, often overlooked, can also be used to secure bait and other small items to your kayak, keeping them within easy reach and preventing them from being washed away. Their versatility makes them a handy addition to any kayak fishing setup.

In essence, both gloves and laundry pins are simple yet effective tools that enhance your safety, efficiency, and overall experience while kayak fishing. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a novice, incorporating these items into your gear can make a noticeable difference.

Should You Mount Kayak Rod Holders On The Bow? 🎣🤔 #fishing #kayakfishing #tips

Try Mounting your rod holders on the bow. Be Ready for a strike anytime!

When kayak fishing, consider mounting your rod holders on the bow to be prepared for a strike at any moment.

Three key benefits:

  • Provides a clear view of your rod for immediate action if a fish strikes, eliminating the need to turn around if it's mounted on the stern.
  • Allows for easier access, enabling you to grab it quickly.
  • Enables you to paddle while keeping an eye on other boats ahead.

Try This Tip, Catch a Few More Fish #flyfishing #fishing #tips

Watch Your Line!

Don't forget to keep an eye on your fly line while fly fishing. Sometimes, it's the only sign that a fish has taken the bait!

Additionally, being attuned to the subtle movements and changes in your line can greatly enhance your overall fishing experience.

Patience and attentiveness are key; often, the most rewarding catches come to those who are observant and persistent.

Remember to enjoy the serenity of your surroundings as well—fly fishing is as much about connecting with nature as it is about the thrill of the catch.

Happy fishing!
