Slower But Still Catchable - October 29, 2008

Fished Bethany Lakes Back Pond in the late afternoon/early evening. Caught a few Bluegill and Sunfish flyfishing. Activity is slower but the fish are still catchable. A slight improvement compared to yesterday's light strikes and zero hook-ups. Hopefully the next few days will bring warmer temperatures to get them active again. Pictures of today's catch posted below.

Bethany Ridge Park - October 24, 2008

Fished Bethany Ridge Park Pond at Lunch to fish for Bass. Waited till it warmed up a little before hitting the small pond in Allen.
Had several small Bass chasing my Wooly Spider. Sunfish and Bluegill kept nipping at the fishing fly as well.
No bruisers but did manage to land a Bass. Went 10.5" in size and struck in about 2 feet of water with the fishing fly just under the water's surface. Picture posted below. Today's Catch. Checkout DFW Fishing News for more fishing information. Click-on DFW Fishing News.

Lunch Time Quick Trip - October 20, 2008

Fished Bethany Lakes' Feeder Creek and Back Pond at lunch today. Caught Bluegill/Sunfish flyfishing a Foam Rubber Spider Variant. Had several strikes from small Bass and saw others chasing baitfish in the shallows. Tried a Wooly Spider and an Olive Wooley Bugger but did not get any solid hook-ups. Fish seemed slow to strike despite the warmer noon temps. Switched to the Foam Rubber Spider Variant and was able to get them to hit on the surface. Sampling of today's catch posted below. Better Luck Next Time.

Fished Hoblitzelle Park Pond in Plano and the nearby creek that runs under Alma this morning. Mainly small Bluegill in the Park's Pond and the creek. Did observe a few small Bass with one that may have weighed a pound in the creek. They followed my fishing fly but could not get them to strike. Better luck next time. FYI: Tried out the Bead Eye Teeny Spider. Had Bass react to it but could not get them to strike this morning. Switched to a Wooly Spider, Olive Wooley Bugger, Brown Wooley Bugger, and Black and Red Zonker. Same reaction, following fishing fly but no strike. Hoping they are acting in this manner due to the cooler weather. Checkout DFW Fishing News for more fishing information. Click-on DFW Fishing News.

Wooly Spider and a Bead Eye Teeny Spider

Was not able to fish today. Took the opportunity to replace the Wooly Spiders that were lost to snags yesterday. Tied two Wooly Spiders and a new fishing fly pattern - Bead Eye Teeny Spider, tied like a Teeny Nymph but uses Krystalbou for the body, Bead Chain for the eyes, and Sili Legs for the legs. Will try it out next trip and post results. Pictures posted below. Wooly Spider. Bead Eye Teeny Spider. Checkout DFW Fishing News for more fishing information. Click-on DFW Fishing News.
