A Little Tenkara Fishing Before Dinner
A quick trip to Bethany Lakes before dinner for some Tenkara Fishing. Fished the Lower Pond by the Waterfall and caught Bluegill and Sunfish. No Bruisers but still a lot of fun knowing it doesn't take much gear to catch fish - a fly, a line, and a rod!

Damsel Flies Continue to Produce At Bethany!
Slideshow of fish we caught today at our favorite local pond - Bethany Lakes. Big surprise today was Crappie caught in the Lower Pond!
Used the Tenkara Rod and fished Damsel Flies and Foam Spiders and Grasshoppers with the "go to" fishing fly being the Damsel Fly in either Olive or Purple!

Purple Damsel Fly, Foam Rubber Spider, and the Tenkara Rod,... Great Combo!
Been tough to breakaway from work these last few weeks. Luckily, was able to flex the Tenkara Rod this evening and catch (and release) a fair amount of fish... Bluegill, Sunfish, Shellcrackers, and Bass! Went with the Purple Damsel Fly, then the Foam Rubber Spider. And, fished with the Tenkara Rod only. Keeping it simple so as to focus on fishing rather than the gear!

Warmer Temps and Bluegill/Sunfish are Nesting, Great Time Catching Them on the Tenkara Rod!
Warmer temps made for a comfortable outing at Bethany Lakes. Observed Bluegill/Sunfish nesting in the shallows. Brought the Tenkara Rod and a White Foam Spider. Good news... surface action was happening! Had a great time catching (and releasing the scrappy fighters). Caught 24 fish, two were little Bass. Else it was Bluegill and Sunfish!

Tenkara for Lunch Anyone!
Been tough working our day jobs. Busy times... regardless, gotta make time for the important things like Fishing! Took a break at lunch and did a little Tenkara Fishing. Caught one Sunfish on a Purple Damsel Fly and three little Bass on an Olive Crawdad! Fun stuff, just went by too fast.

Cool Front and Rain Showers Changed the Pattern...
Cool front and rain showers moved in the last few days. Definitely changed the pattern! Sun came out today and hopefully temps will warm up soon. Was able to fish one of the local ponds using the Tenkara Rod and a Damsel Fly. Had two strikes and misses, then a hookup on a Bass. Only problem was it came loose on the bank and flopped quickly back in to the water. Finally managed to land one and take a picture of it - a little Bass.

Quick Trip Yields Two Bass...
Been hectic at our day jobs but did manage to make it to Bethany for a quick 30" trip. Went with a Flyrod and a White Foam Spider. Wind was strong but did manage to cast good enough to hook a couple of Bass. No Bruisers but still fun. Also caught a few small Sunfish but opted not to take pictures of them.

More Sunfish and a Bass at Bethany!
Only had a short amount of time to fish today. Went simple,... bringing only the Tenkara Rod and an Olive Crawdad. Caught a few Sunfish and a little Bass. Action has slowed with the cooler temps. No worries, things will turn soon!
Here's the picture of the little Bass.

Tenkara Fishing at Lunch Time,... Three Sunfish and a Bass!
Another reason we like Tenkara Fishing is it offers ease of setup so that a short 30" Lunch Break can turn into a Fishing Trip!
Made it to Bethany and fished an Olive Crawdad. Landed three Sunfish and a Bass. Action was slower compared to yesterday. Guessing the cooler temps has impacted them. No worries, action will pick up again!
