Mobile Fishing Livestream 149 (Spotify)
Fishing is one of the best ways to step away from everyday life and recharge on the water. In this recent live stream, I headed to Bethany Lakes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for some fly fishing action, sharing the whole experience in real time—from gear choices and conditions to strategies and the inevitable challenges that come with the sport.
The session started at Bethany Lakes, a great local spot with accessible banks and plenty of potential for bass on the fly. Conditions played a big role, as weather always does—fish activity can shift quickly, so adapting was the name of the game. I talked about the equipment I was using, why certain setups work better in these urban-adjacent waters, and the importance of getting the fly in the water consistently.
Key moments included switching flies when things slowed down, observing shallow water behavior, and making adjustments based on what the fish were showing. Patience was essential—some days are slower, but learning from missed strikes and tweaking techniques often leads to that rewarding hookup. Documenting the catches (even the small ones) helps track progress and build skills over time.
The community made it even better—viewers chimed in with suggestions, shared their own stories, and kept the energy up. It's a reminder that fishing isn't just about the individual angler; the shared knowledge and encouragement from fellow enthusiasts add so much to the joy.
This live stream captured the essence of why I love fly fishing in local DFW spots: the mix of challenge, adaptation, community, and pure enjoyment. Success comes from persistence, the right equipment, and staying open to learning—whether from the water or from each other.
Listen/watch the full session for all the casts, switches, and reflections. Tight lines, and keep getting those flies in the water!
