Vintage 1960s Abu Garcia Spinner Still Catches Bass

Ultralight BFS at Sonic Pond 🎣 | Average Angler Life

Discover how a vintage Abu Garcia inline spinner from the 1960s proves that sometimes old gear still catches fish. In this live stream session at Sonic Pond in Allen, Texas, I battle backlash, tweak an ultralight BFS reel, and focus on steady retrieves while chasing shy bass and bluegill.

You’ll see tuning a classic spinner for better casts, adjusting brakes and spool tension, why finishing every retrieve matters, reading environmental cues, and combining microcast rods with vintage-style lures for ultralight success.

Sometimes the old gear still rules the water.

This was real fishing — tangled lines, patience, gear tinkering, and the joy of making classic lures work again.

What’s the oldest lure or reel you’ve caught fish on recently? Share it in the comments!
